Re: maps of old empires
Is it me, or does Alaska look huge on the map for post#5? I know it's big, but it looks like it's about the size of Australia and almost the size of the mainland US.
I always love looking at old maps for this reason. Because they didn't have all the sophisticated technology we use today, they had to rely on much more rudementary tools. Although very, very impressive in accuracy, some things just aren't right. The best maps, in my opinion, are the ones made when they were still exploring North and South America. They were amazingly accurate in some spots, but so far off in others.
And it's always a bonus if it has a sea dragon put somewhere in one of the oceans.
