That's interesting. I used to think that way as well. However, I wonder if the acceptance of homosexuality will merely be confined to the metropolises. I haven't travelled much out to the red states, but it seems clear to me where they stand with regards to homosexuality. Given our federalist constitution, it seems entirely plausible that they could have their own little societies out there that really do not accept homosexuality.

Well, I live in a very ruraly area... Even from the rabid christian conservatives around here (the kids at least) I get the sense that they don't really care as much. Right now they seem to think that homosexuality is something that is more amusing than threatening. I guess laughing cause someone is gay is better than dragging them behind a truck. Did I mention "slow"?
Of course, these people still don't think they should have any rights, and probably think they're all going to hell... But rights outlined in lawbooks and social acceptance are not necissarily mutually dependent.
