It seems that South Africa is joining the group of countries that roundly trounce the United States as far as Gay rights are concerned.

I think you and I are both idealists. There is one key element though that separates countries that have engendered gay rights, versus countries such as the US and Australia – the rise of the Christian movement (I refuse to call them “Right”).
