Default Sign the petition for Evan Bayh's bill

Vehicle and Fuel Choices for American Security Act
Americans are becoming more reliant on oil from unstable Middle Eastern nations, gas prices are rising, and oil companies are raking in record multi-billion dollar profits. We must address this energy crisis now. That’s why Sen. Evan Bayh has introduced the Vehicle and Fuel Choices for American Security Act to increase the use of alternative fuels and cut our dependence on foreign oil. Sign the petition below to call on your Senator to support the Vehicle and Fuel Choices for American Security Act.
This is what will be sent to your Senator if you click the link and fill out this form.

Dear Senator,

Right now the U.S. is more dependent on oil from unstable Middle Eastern countries than we were on September 11, 2001.

When the U.S. is forced to seek oil from countries hostile to ours, it creates a major threat to our national security!

But we know a solution already exists – one that would have the additional benefit of creating jobs here in America: increase the use of alternative fuels. For instance, we can mix gas with ethanol, a fuel derived from corn, grasses and cornhusks produced by American farmers.

So, to move America toward greater energy independence, Sen. Evan Bayh has introduced the Vehicle and Fuel Choices for American Security Act. His bill will encourage the use of ethanol and other alternative fuels and reduce our oil consumption dramatically over the next ten years.

I urge you to support Sen. Evan Bayh’s bipartisan Vehicle and Fuel Choices for American Security energy plan.

It is time to get moving on a solution to this crucial economic and national security problem.

Honestly, the bill really does not do much of anything. It is of course very important that we develop alternative fuels or at least lessen our dependance in the short run. All of our gasoline allready contains 10 percent ethanol and our domestic automakers (with the asian automakers soon to follow) are all pushing flex fuel vehicles that can run on up to 85% ethanol. Older vehicles can not run on any fuel with more than 10% ethanol because the fuel system are too easily corroded and clogged with the less pure fuel.

We allready have the choice to do this, but most americans are not ready to switch to these types of vehicles.

The bs demanded by the tree huggers on gas add more then a dollar to the cost of gas.

It's a sound move for the economy, but it's also an election-year stunt. That being said, I am surely supportive of the legislation.

Ethanol-fuel is a domestic 'farm subsidy' policy, not an evironmentalist one.

Most serious environmentalists do not support ethanol as a 'solution' to anything.

IIRC, the studies show that Ethanol actually uses more gasoline per mile, when you factor in the costs of harvesting the corn and processing it.

The one thing the tree huggers have done for the automotive business is allow them to not make better automobiles.
When the tree huggers demanded and got the epa bs about gas milage for cars the tree huggers allowed the automotive companies to not develop better cars. So all automotive companies need to do now is build a car to fit set specifications for the tree huggers to sell a car.
Before the tree huggers bs with the epa the automotive companies had to build cars that consumers wanted. But the tree huggers had to demand bs that allows the automotive companies a way out of developing better cars.
The tree huggers are the threat to the environment. Blind hatred of anything always causes more harm then good.

Wow. That's priceless. (I'm being polite). Try doing your homework next time. It might be less fun, but it is more interesting to read.
