Hacked Fox tweets claim 'Obama dead' - Americas - Al Jazeera English
Fox may need to have a chat with their IT director.A FoxNews.com Twitter account was hacked briefly on Monday and six false tweets, saying that US President Barack Obama had been shot dead, were sent.
In a statement posted on its website later on Monday morning, Fox News called the tweets "malicious" and "false".
The media outlet, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, said it was investigating the hacking and had alerted the US Secret Service.
I'd love to see the reaction of people who bought this.

I imagine, once it's shown that their only intention was to mess with Fox, they'll just get some kind of fine or something. I don't know what the legal ramifications are for hacking an account that doesn't involve secrets or someone's financial security.

That's the thing, it seems that hackers have a bit of a leg up on law enforcement, with far more of them getting away with the crime than getting caught. Sure, you'll see headlines about hackers getting busted here and there, but they're such a tiny portion of the folks doing these things that it doesn't make much difference. It's just for show.
Heck, Lulzsec formed, attacked a bunch of sites for a few months, then got bored and disbanded. Doesn't exactly put confidence in law enforcement's ability to fight these guys.
