I mean come on. Who isnt doing their job? The House keeps passing bills, and the Senate wont even debate or amend. Meanwhile they havent passed a single alternative yet.
Senate moves to quickly dismiss Boehner debt plan - The Hill's Floor Action
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the Senate would vote Thursday night on House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) plan to raise the debt limit.
In a move that is likely to anger House Republicans, the vote will be on a motion to table Boehner’s plan, a senior Democratic aide told The Hill.
That vote will allow Reid to quickly dismiss the Boehner measure, as it requires a simple majority to circumvent the hours of debate generally demanded by Senate rules to move something through the chamber.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) responded by accusing the majority of attempting to "block" Boehner's legislation. “It’s inconceivable to me that they would actually block the only bill that could get through the House of Representatives and prevent a default right now," McConnell told the The Hill in an email statement.
It's simple. If you're a Democrat Senator all you do is look at what the NYT and WaPo say that Gallup has come up with and as long as they keep saying that the whole country will blame Republicans for the mess then you knock down any potential solutions.
This past couple of years the absolutely disgusting nature of politicians has been exposed like never before yet, for some reason that I just can't figure out, only the tiniest minority of people are seeing it for what it is.
"People Died; Obama Thrived" - blatantly stolen from "Grey_Whiskers"
For one, Barack Obama who has yet to draft a plan of his own or lead the Senate in formation of something they'll pass. I thought he was supposed to be this country's LEADER.![]()
IMO, the public is looking for deep cuts, a balanced budget amendment, and is OK with closing corp loopholes even if it all shows up at the cash registers. The right ought to throw in the towel on the loopholes and give the public what they think they want.
I wonder if the left knows how friggin idiotic it sounds to object to a balanced budget amendment........hell no!, balance the budget???? We need to stay the course on borrow and spend........![]()

When they call you racist, they mean they lack the intelligence, intellect, and composure to examine facts and engage in actual debate on the topic.
Not true. Obama submitted a budget. Congress voted against it. However, since he is complaining and offereing alternatives, he should be submitting a new one, or shut up.

If they do move to table, Rush will have to come on tomorrow and explain why he was wrong.
That should be fun...

Well, unlike short-sighted Republic Senators, Democratic Senators care more about everyday people and the crisis they're in, one that has been exacerbated by Republic politicians.
Boehner and the Republics look pretty stupid right now because they passed on $4 trillion and can't even agree with themselves on the $1 trillion alternative put forward by their Speaker.
I feel bad for Boehner. He should just do the right thing and get all the Democrats and like 25 Republics to pass the big one that deals with Medicare, Social Security and taxes instead of having to try to please his own moronic caucus of fiscal fuckwads who want everything they want and fuck everyone else.
Boehner'll be a hero to all of us if he gives them the finger for us and let's Democrats and remaining moderate conservatives to do the right thing and move the country forward again, because these teabaggers are seriously a danger to America. The DOW is teetering on some kind of collapse and still these baggers won't compromise. They aren't idealists; they're zealots for their cause, and it's not patriotic.
Don't get fooled by the theatre, the votes are just formalities, just because Boehner can get House Republicans to vote for something, doesn't mean he has a deal, or is even attempting to make a deal.
When the House committee approved a bill of impeachment for Nixon, it never got voted on, because GOP Senators had already counted over 67 guilty votes in the Senate, and went to Nixon and told him to resign before the formalities could take place.
When the House committee was debating a bill of impeachment for Reagan, Tip O'Neil counted the Senate votes, saw that there weren't 67 guilty votes and had the bill killed in committee.
When the House (knowing it would never pass the Senate) went through the motions of impeaching Clinton, it was all just political theatre.
Boehner knows that he hasn't done a fucking thing until he comes up with a bill that the Senate will pass and Obama will sign.
"I think -- tide turning -- see, as I remember --I was raised in the desert, but tides kind of -- it's easy to see a tide turn -- did I say those words?"
-- George W. Bush, asked if the tide is turning in Iraq

Well, so much for this thread. Boehner delayed a vote in the House since he has no power over his caucus right now.
Poor guy. Just do the right thing, dude, and get that big one passed and leave your abusive teabagging relatives behind already. You don't even like those people anyway.

Still Lacking GOP Backing, Boehner Delays Vote
They're saying the vote will happen later in the evening, but who knows. Why all the wrangling over a bill that will be defeated in the Senate?
