You do understand that corporate taxes are lower than they have been since 1930, and that while the US has one of the highest nominal corporate tax rates, the effective corporate tax rate is one of the lowest in the world.

And all the time that corporate tax rates were higher than they were now, corporations still tried to increase profits.

High taxes don't make people go out of business, they fold because they lack customers....
right so increasing txes has no effect on the price of anything lmfao
    here is how it works
you owna a bussiness and it costs you 100.00 to make a product and make a profit of 5.00 per iitem. now the gov increases the taxes so you only make 2.00 per item. so your choices are the following yo loose profit meaning tha tit wil be harder to find investers or hire people to expand. or you can raise the prices of your products meaning that fewer people can afford them causing yo uto go out of business or you can move to a area that you dont pay as much taxes.
so baslicly yor just raise taxes 2out of three times hurts teh econ.
he is real life examples. nyc in the 70s and 80s put a huge tax on hotels and convetion centers and it drove bussiness away they lowered the taxes and people came back.
and right now the county i live in has a huge gas tax so people just wait to go to the other side of the river and pays 30 cents less per gallon. if gas taxes where not so high more people wold by the gas in this county and that wold be lots more money for the country with lower taxes.

Why, MHP, why do democrats seem to have this vision of a corporate shareholders meeting where the director gets up and says "as you all know, we are now subject to new taxes, and we cannot possibly pass those on to the consumer, so you all should make peace with a smaller return on your investments"? I mean, it's so f'n stupid, they think they are going to tax/punish Mr. Corporate jet and they end up taxing their meager living selves.....champions of "the people", y'know......fighting "the system", sticking it to "the man". Too bad they're "the man".
I understand what you saying... but we need to close ALL loopholes, BUT then revise the system to make it balanced and fair.
Having the rich and businesses bare majority of the burden is not fair.
Just as corps such as GE paying zero is not fair, not when you have small business scrapping to get by with all the taxes they pay.

I am firm believer in zero corp tax.
Taxes kill the small businesses while large corporations will simply relocate their operations and manufacturing....IE China, Mexico, etc.
I say tax the work force, that gives business incentive to keep manufacturing in the US and gives them money to grow/invest.

I doubt it will work though, the GOP will be lucky if they can pass any bill even once in the house.
It appears that the House has now passed two bills that raise the debt ceiling, but the Senate has tabled both.

Reid's "countermove" appears to be to do nothing.

This is the game play in how I believe it will go down.

1st the Dems stopped the Balance Amendment and pushed the Repbs back until the Repubs came out with a limp bill.

The next move will be the Dems proposing a high dollar savings plan to make the Repubs look foolish...... this will take place for one simple reason, to make argument come election time to show that they are better than the Repubs at saving money and looking out for our future.

The Dems are better chess players...the Repubs are still learning checkers.
