Default The next fight: passing a budget in Sept

The next big fight that Obama will have to have with the GOPers is to pass a budget. The current CR runs out Sept 30.

What do you predict will happen? I'm predicting a government shutdown. Obama has weathered not one not two but three complete capitulations to GOP demands.

The first was to extend the Bush tax cuts last December

The second was the short term CR

The third was the debt ceiling raise.

In each instance, Obama gave the GOP everything it wanted and he got next to nothing he wanted. The base is furious and I don't blame them. I don't think he can readily continue to capitulate to the minority party, especially when the American people favor Obama's positions overwhelmingly. We know they want to ask the rich to pay more. We know they want a balanced approach. We know they want politicians who compromise.

If Obama caves on the budget, all hell will break loose, especially because the right wing policies he's been enacting have hurt the recovery (probably as planned by the GOP to hurt his re-election). Cutting only stifles job creation since the debt hasn't actually hurt anyone and can be paid later. Creditors are not knocking at the door. That noise you hear is the Tea Party, not China or Japan.

There will be a shutdown. Obama will be forced to draw some line in the sand for progressives that the GOP will not agree to. In the end, like with Clinton, it will end up hurting the overreaching hostage taking GOP and Obama will come out on top. That is my prediction.

The budget year ends Sept. 30th. Truly, the width and breath of what you don't know is staggering.

You Obama toadies really do need to get your stories straight. Yesterday goober was loudly insisting that Obama 'punked' the GOP once again.

I for one, will make note of this... it is made all the more unlikely due to your predicting it to happen. Your record is... not the best.

Please do make note. Barring the GOP waking up and realizing that you cannot de-tax your way out of debt there will be shutdown.

BTW can you link to where goober said the GOP were punked? I don't see how that is possible.

Maybe someday you'll actually learn how to use this board. Try search sometime.

Oh, and meanwhile, the Administration is letting the FAA go down in flames.

Speaking of key shutdowns, this is inexcusable.

Note that neither the Democratic or Republican controlled Houses have managed to fix this, and the Obama administration is doing the square root of jack shit about it.

Oh and Danny... your Lord and Master is not respected by... both sides.

On July 23, they claim, the White House called Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), telling her not to participate on a call with Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Pelosi informed Reid, who declined to participate, and the call was canceled, the Republican sources said. (A Pelosi spokesman could not be reached for comment.)

Later that day, the four leaders met with Obama at the White House. At one point, GOP officials said, the Democratic and Republican leaders asked Obama and his aides to leave the room to let them negotiate.

A tentative deal was subsequently struck, but Obama privately threatened to veto it, the sources said.
Seems like everybody knows that Obama is an empty suit... he does nothing but get in the way.

I predict another shitty last second deal.

Obama has weathered not one not two but three complete capitulations to GOP demands.

The first was to extend the Bush tax cuts last December

The second was the short term CR
These two were part of the same deal weren't they?

The third was the debt ceiling raise.
    Shouldn't this be second?

In each instance, Obama gave the GOP everything it wanted and he got next to nothing he wanted.
Nope each time Obama got what he wanted.....money.

The base is furious and I don't blame them.
The base wants total rule without the need of compromise.

I don't think he can readily continue to capitulate to the minority party, especially when the American people favor Obama's positions overwhelmingly.
Bull-crap. If the American people favored Obama's position then we would have a liberal House that would match the Sennett.

We know they want to ask the rich to pay more.
As if the rich has less right to their income.

We know they want a balanced approach.
They don't want a "balanced approach". They want the appearance of balance while keeping every red cent that they haven't earned.

We know they want politicians who compromise.
This statement contradicts what you wrote about the angry base.

If Obama caves on the budget, all hell will break loose
Hell will break loose if we force the government to spent less than what it takes in? Here I though you didn't believe in religion.

, especially because the right wing policies he's been enacting have hurt the recovery (probably as planned by the GOP to hurt his re-election).
    How is that?

Cutting only stifles job creation since the debt hasn't actually hurt anyone and can be paid later.
Ahhhh, in other words kick the can down the road so that someone else has to deal with it. Preferably a non-liberal who will look like the bad guy for doing what needs to be done.

Creditors are not knocking at the door. That noise you hear is the Tea Party, not China or Japan.
It will be too late if we wait for the creditors to knock on the door.

There will be a shutdown. Obama will be forced to draw some line in the sand for progressives that the GOP will not agree to. In the end, like with Clinton, it will end up hurting the overreaching hostage taking GOP and Obama will come out on top. That is my prediction.
Your entitled to you prediction I guess.

I wonder how Congress giving themselves a summer vacation will play in the media for the rest of this month? Can public approval of lawmakers get any lower?

I do agree that the 2012 budget will be a battle between the cutters and the revenuers, assuming that the SuperCommitte heroes don't publish a bipartisan grand solution ahead of schedule, and kumbaya takes over.

Wow, Obama all by himself has killed the economy. People realized Obama's policies were a failure and the mid-terms proved that. Now nothing Obama has done has made one thing better for this country. Not one. He is his own worst enemy. Come the 2012 debates he will get killed trying to support his failed policies. And now the market is telling us we're headed into another recession, and you're going to blame the Republicans. I don't think so, but nice try.

One last point to your borrowing and spending.
