Default Contract For The American Dream

Contract for the American Dream | Don't Kill the Dream

I think this is from some kind of progressive group, and I'm not sure anyone in Congress would sign it, but most of the ten proposals are at least partly reflected in public opinion.

I'd take out or change some of these, and add a bipartisan Balanced Budget Amendment and a Congressional Term Limits Amendment (for starters).

    I disagree on:

IV. Putting anyone on Medicare who wants it would drive the quality of our heath care to that of a third world country. Most good doctors don't even accept medicare now. Young people entering college would choose a different profession where their education would richly reward them.

    V. Want a living wage? Then learn a skill and or get an education and make yourself marketable in the workplace. Paying the unskilled the wages of their skilled co workers is madness.

    VII. Job/Growth killer.

IX. Increased taxes on wall street? Why? Because they're there?

When they call you racist, they mean they lack the intelligence, intellect, and composure to examine facts and engage in actual debate on the topic.

If Van Jones is behind it, it's definitely a progressive movement.

I kind of like a $.25 transaction fee for stock trades, not so much for raising revenues as to bite those damned Wall St. banks and hedge funds whose nanosecond computerized trading distorts and brazenly manipulates prices for everyone. Let the ones benefitting from speculating on volatility pay for the unfair advantage.

What about $.25 if you buy a fatburger? How about $.25 if you don't bring your own bag to the grocer's and use a plastic one? How about $.25 deposit on all those water bottles? How about $.25 on (you name it)

How about congress not spending so much?
    How about smaller government?
How about an end to federal mandates to states?

How about booting out the paid lobbyists and returning the govt to the people?

I agree with everyone of the proposals. Most of them was HOW it used to be before the Cons stormed D.C. and put the elite business jackwags in the drivers seat writing policy that helps mostly themselves.

I think most Americans would support the proposal as it is fuckng common sense stuff. And stuff we never used to have to worry about, as that was our ecnomic policy. But since most Americans would support it, you can bet your ass it will never happen until after the BIG CRASH occurs. And we will crash, make no mistake about it. What is going on today with economic policy will destroy America's middle class. As it was intended, IMO.

Only because you side with the elites and not the average working American. WHich is very strange, but propaganda is very powerful these days. The right wing are particularly adept at creating great propaganda, to the point that average Americans are voting against their own self interest when they vote for the Pubs. Yeah, it works, for now anyways, but those days are numberbed, IMO, once the real pain gets here.

You would BD. Of course you can't pay for them, but hey, when has paying for something been a problem for liberals?

After all, there's always a victim you can steal from to take what you think you deserve right?

Yup, every one of them is based on an unworkable premise.

That America is in a vacuum and unaffected by the world. Companies can't leave, and that people will simply kowtow to the wishes of masses because they "NEED" what someone else owns.
