Default whar be congress sailin' to?

    ahoy all,

    when i climb into me crows nest to survey the course that congress hath sailed, this be what i see;

    a) 2 years battlin' it out fer the Affordable Care Act

    b) 1 year debatin' cuttin' the size 'o government

me question be this - whar are the programs that'll promote job growth?

me second question be this - what be the direct link between bringin' down the debt and the creation 'o jobs? i ask, because i don't really understand it. be the connection between cuttin' the yearly deficit a linear one? meanin', lets say the deficit is bought down by half a trillion dollars...does that turn into job growth, and if so, how?

    thank ye mates.

Think of your analogy. A ship has a captain who is God upon his own vessel. Think of how a ship would function (or rather wouldn't) if it was a democracy? all the sailors would vote themselves an extra grog ration and no work and then bitch at each other when the ship ran aground or became becalmed etc. Which is what's been going on for the last, o I don't know lets say a century or so but certainly in the recent years it's grown worse.

    ahoy Reality,

so yer sayin' that if i take away that extra ration 'o grog, thar would be alot 'o job creation on me vessel?

    *ponders*

*thinks hard and frowns from the effort*

so then, what yer sayin' (if i be followin' ye correctly) is that if i cut NASA, increase Tricare fees fer retired military and slash farm subsidies (fer example), employment will start hummin' along in our nation and folks will start hirin' again?

As to the question of how this recession will end, the end will begin in November 2012. Of course that’s the election and the new person elected president will bring a new level of optimism to the nation, it’s people, and the economy. The reason behind that is the platform of the GOP nominee… less spending, less debt, and the same (or less) tax RATES. Maybe with total tax reform, maybe not. But less not more.

A full repeal of the ACA (made easier after the SCOTUS declares it unconstitutional.) A roll back of tens of thousands of rules and regulations implemented, and more importantly, no more new regulations. Someone that will turn the nation’s economy lose… ‘drill baby drill!’ Rein in the NLRB, and cut the ribbon at that new Boeing plant. Someone that is not out to change the basic fabric of the nation.

Has that not always been the liberal thinking, if there is a problem like, high unemployment, cover it with money and the problem goes away. And if they don't have enough money they borrow it. Problem is, the problem does not go away and all it does is increase debt. Now the debt becomes the problem, and a big problem it is, so much so it is sucking the life out of this country. Think of your own vessel, is it better to be awash in money or awash in debt. Debt will sink your ship whereas being awash in money you will never sink and ride the high seas no matter how bad the weather.

We are awash in debt and sinking, and the more debt the vessel tries to carry makes the hole in the ship take on more water faster. So to keep the ship from sinking we need to off load the debt and plug the hole. When you do that the crew is happy to sail on, and build more ships to sail.

    This was your question,

I thought he answered number one and number two.

    ahoy Tsquare,

i didn't even bother to read beyond yer openin' remark, me hearty.

edit: i read the next sentence, which basically stated that when the GOP have the skipper's seat, all will be well. then i thought about the net jobs gain from 2000-2008.

President George W. Bush entered office in 2001 just as a recession was starting, and is preparing to leave in the middle of a long one. That’s almost 22 months of recession during his 96 months in office.

His job-creation record won’t look much better. The Bush administration created about three million jobs (net) over its eight years, a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under President Bill Clinton‘s administration and only slightly better than President George H.W. Bush did in his four years in office.

i didn't bother readin' further, as this thread was also about the congress and what they've done to focus on job growth.
