This article about Al Gore's new enviornmental film is humorous.
Did he ever mention that when he was veep, global warming worsened?
There's so much he's hiding or waffling about that his new flick should get an Oscar for Best Comedy.
What has this to do with education? Only that I would not be surprised if some misguided teacher forces students to sleep through it in supposing it is 'good science'.
Check this out for a laugh...

Another hate thread from a loving (un-named faith).
Wow. That review was quite something.

LOL! Matt I know. I skimmed it. Meanwhile it did really good in the openings. The film is full of scientific facts that we all need to learn. If we don't learn it and reverse the trend by stopping pollution, we will lose our shorelines and beaches and cities that are close to sea level. The polar bears are drowning because they can't reach the next iceberg since it's too far away now. It's really very sad![]()

and posters like our little friend here don't care enough about our future generations but instead love to spread hatred about Al Gore. It's a shoot the messenger attitude. I know the message is scary, but if our human race has any brains whatsoever, we do have a chance to turn it around and save ourselves. But the chance is slipping away. We need to open our eyes, watch this movie, and then "think globally, act locally".

I hope there is atleast some area of agreement for everyone here.Originally Posted by Samantha

Rush Limbaugh rightly observed the fact that the modern enviornental movement is for leftover communists after Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher beat the USSR. He is right.
The myth of global warming is built solidly upon thin air. This thinly veiled attempt to damage the western economies is unwise and unnecessary.
From the article--http://www.nypost.com/movies/66485.htm
I think we have all the evidence of hot air we need... from Al Gore.People are skeptical about global warming because it builds up to the same chorus as every other lefty hymn: more taxes, more hypocritical scolding (the film is the brainchild of Larry David's wife, Laurie, part of the community of people who drive a Prius to the private plane) and especially more America-bashing.
Gore says that America, alone, is the problem. Taking us to China, he ignores the filth spewed into the air by its coal-fired cities. He does not meet with bronchitic citizens who wear surgical masks outdoors and pause to hawk up brown gunk every few minutes. Instead, he tells us America is lagging behind. "China," he says, "is on the cutting edge" of environmentalism. Nonsense.
Gore is a dangerous evangelist for whom all roads lead to his sole, holy revelation. Remember how his son was injured in a car accident, the story he told at the 1992 convention? He's still telling it, and what was once touching has become exploitative. This time, the accident's meaning is that he wondered whether the Earth would still be there for his son. (Never mind that earlier in the film, he dates his eco-awakening to his Harvard years).
A sister who smoked and died of lung cancer? The lesson is that those who used to deny that smoking caused disease were wrong, so anyone who doubts catastrophic global warming must also be wrong.
Still not convinced that Gore's mind has only one emission? "We have to think differently about war," he says, referring to environmental effects of weapons. "We can't just mindlessly continue the patterns of the past." It's a chilling statement: Even when bombs are flying, Gore promises to measure CO2 first.
The man's shamelessness is astounding when he compares himself to Churchill, but that's not the worst of it. The final shot of Gore shows him bravely silhouetted against the cosmos, a lone figure tenderly surveying the firmament. The job he really wants, no recount can give him.
Free speech for all.
Thanks for destroying your crediblity for us. I was afraid I was gonna actually have to think of a rebuttal.Originally Posted by t714zu

The modern environmental movement has, to varying degrees, been hijacked by the anti-globalization movement.
This is why one of the founding members of Greenpeace left - when the organization moved away from genuine environmental concerns and started with an anti-corporate, anti-globalization agenda.
This is one of the problems, IMHO. A number of these organizations have undermined the credibility of the entire movement.

Well given that we got Bush now talking about the need to do more reseach into alternative energy, I'd say that the ideas of environmentalists are widely accepted. It's all good and well what some enviornmentalists do, but I think that we would find that environmentalism is pretty strong on the political left as a whole, or half the country. So the actions of a few of those groups really do not have much negative implications (in the worst case scenario) for the millions of people who understand that we need to preserve the environment and not destroy it.
Only a fool would allege that there is a link between environmentalism and communism.![]()
