Christian clubs have a right to exist on state funded universities.
They may exclude applicants for membership who reject their religious views including lifestyle issues like sexual abstinance until marriage or rejection of porn or obscene speech.
In all the USA this has been upheld except once in CA under a liberal federal judge.
So to forstall it from happening in AZ, the state passed a law. The governor was less than honest in her explaination. See if you can find her lie.

Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano yesterday vetoed the Associational Freedom in Higher Learning Act that would have prevented public universities from denying recognition to student groups that limit their membership to students who hold the religious, political or philosophical views of the organization. A prior posting describes S.B.1153 more fully. Today's Arizona Republic reports that this is one of nine bills vetoed by the Governor as the legislative session ended. The Governor's veto letter (full text) seemed to suggest that she saw the bill as broader than it in fact was. She said:
Students at postsecondary institutions should not be prohibited from participating in student organizations of their choice simply based on their religious or political beliefs. A law that would permit such discrimination could lead to a host of adverse consequences. For example, if this bill became law, there would be nothing to prohibit the school football team or chess club from denying participation by Jews, Christians, Muslims or members of other religions.
Here is the lie. She falsely claimed, "...if this bill became law, there would be nothing to prohibit the school football team or chess club from denying participation by Jews, Christians, Muslims or members of other religions."
Nothing could be further from the truth. Why? Because the law applies only to clubs with "religious, political or philosophical views". Guess what? The school football team or chess club are NOT religious, political, or philosophical clubs and would not be affected.
Somebody hire her a lawyer!![]()
Free speech for all.

This is really a big deal. I hope she is impeached and removed from office for this horrible lie. Thank you for pointing out the tremendous injustice served upon the entire state of Arizona by her bold-faced lie.

I am sure the sincere voters of the state of AZ will remember this at election time... especially those whose children were victims of anti-faith bias at Arizona's publicly funded state universities.Originally Posted by hermanboo
The AZ governor did another bait and switch with the truth recently... calling for the Guard to patrol the border and then limiting them to trivial non-patrol work away from the critical border. She's just pandering for media attention, but it isn't going all her way. We have the internet new - and cable and talk radio - to expose her lies. I hope the voters feel as concerned about her harm to America as I do.
