We always hear about how the green lobby are trying to sabotage economic growth. This report was commissioned by industry - so it can hardly be argued they are green groups who are pushing an agenda.
It might be a good starting point for a discussion

Greenhouse gas reduction won't cut economic growth: report
A new report shows greenhouse gases can be significantly reduced while maintaining strong economic growth.
Six of Australia's top companies and the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) commissioned the report.
The new roundtable includes chief executives from BP Australia, Westpac, Origin Energy, IAG, Swiss Re and Visy.
They commissioned an independent report which models the effects of a 60 per cent reduction in emissions by 2050.
It shows strong economic growth can be maintained, with GDP averaging over 2 per cent if action starts now.
Delaying it by 15 years would see Australia's growth rate fall.
The report also shows an additional 3.5 million jobs would be created if early action is undertaken compared to 250,000 if little is done.
Well that is certainly enlightening, and welcome. Imagine a world where we can enjoy all the conveniences of modern life, and at the same time know that the air we breathe is safe and that we are not blindly altering the climate. (although the climate may alter on its own of course).
