Exclamation Please Donate to Relief Efforts for Katrina!

A week has just about past now since the effects of Katrina were first realized. As the true devestation that has hit this region of the United States continues to mount I believe it is time for members of U.S. Politics Online to donate if they haven't already and if they can afford to do so.

As before, all donations made to U.S. Politics Online for the month of September will go to the American Red Cross to help victims of this horrific hurricane. This includes any subscriptions to this site--initials or renewals--as well as all direct donations above and beyond the subscriptions.

If you don't want to donate through this site that is perfectly fine. If you are able to then I encourage you to donate to a known reputable organization, such as American Red Cross.

I would. But I see (not just from this event) how wasteful and inefficient our govt. and bureaucrazies in general ARE. I refuse to donate money to line the pockets of some bureauscum. I'm very skeptical and I don't trust that any $$ I donated, would actually be put to use helping someone. Red cross, shmed cross...........

Unless of course, I could follow for every second, the pathway my money took (which is impossible).

If there's a way I can help in person or something, I might. As it is, the govt. via the IRS, takes my money interest free every year. Perhaps if they manage THAT well, they can use some of THAT for help.

Until the govt. proves to me that they aren't the theiving dirtbags they APPEAR to be, I'm taking care of MYSELF and MY family. I'll donate to myself so I can afford to live in a country run by fools. Fools that US fools put in power

I have modified where the money will go as sending money directly to our own members affected by this tragedy will be much more efficient. Two people donated prior to doing this. Please PM me and specify where you would like the money to go.

Also, if anyone would like to donate money but does not want to purchase a subscription, they may send money via PayPal to subscribe @ uspoliticsonline.com ...without the spaces of course. I will be doing this for the entire month of September so please donate away!

    Thank you for your generosity.

Is this a contribution that goes directly to Mrs M and nougatmaster?

Are they the only 2 posters on this board that are from the Gulf Coast?

How does the money get to them?

Have they accepted this form of relief from us? (I hope they do, we are happy to help).

Will you tell us how much money was raised at the end, when you hand it over to them?

Will it be equally split between them and any other posters we have here?

And finally - this is very generous of you Marc, thanks for doing it.

It will be split in half equally between them. I will verify information from them on how to send it; it will most likely be sent via PayPal. And I plan on keeping an active tally on how much has been raised to encourage others to give.

I don't know if they are the only two posters on this board that live in the Gulf Coast. I assume they are the only active members that do as they are the only two names that have been mentioned as far as I know.

    Again, thank you everyone!

You have already helped raise over $113 for two very valued members here. Please keep it coming. I would love to see us raise at least $1,000!!!

What is it up to now?
Up there in the immensity of the Cosmos, an inescapable perception awaits us. National boundaries are not evident when we view the Earth from space. Fanatical ethnic, religious or national chauvinisms are a little difficult to maintain when we see our planet as a fragile blue crescent fading to become an inconspicuous point of light against the bastion and citadel of the stars. -Carl Sagan
