Texas Governor Rick Perry is at it again. He threatens to veto any legislation that would help implement the health insurance exchanges called for by the Affordable Care Act. Such exchanges would make private insurance affordable and available to Texans who are now without coverage. Republicans seem to care more about opposing Obama than they do about governing responsibly.

I hate to break this to you but here at USPOL we do not require that one lives in the county, state, country, whatever in question to comment on items of interest in that area. Just saying you can dislike, comment, retort, or whatever else you feel but tsquare has every right to comment no matter how much you may disagree. Just as I have the same right to say this a ridiculous and doomed to failure idea Perry has come up with.
- Frustrated Independent

Under Rich Perry our living standards have fallen, our health insurance costs have increased astronomically, our educational system is underfunded in disarray (Allen, Texas can build a $60 million high school football stadium and yet layoff teachers? This is Rich Perry's Texas.). Our state's infrastructure is decaying unless, as Rich Perry has promoted, you pay road tolls! (His toll paradigm got him into political hot water when intelligent Texans began to investigate his Super Toll Highway proposal for Mexican truckers. What impartial auditors found was so much inherent corruption concerning the deal it made George W. Bush look like an English teacher. Perry took back his proposal and is now looking to bless the United States with this type of leadership.
Living in Texas is very hard. Rich Perry's leadership has given Texas a 30 billion dollar short fall, number one most uninsured state, one of the most unhealthiest states to live in, obesity problems even in the young, terrible prenatal care and general health care, and falling property values. But Rich Perry will protect large corporations from paying reasonable tax rates. These discounts and tax break for the wealthiest are placed on the wallets of the middle and working classes here.
Texas is the prime example of the very wealthy and the very poor with the middle and working classes being eliminated or driven to poverty due to policies that are killing Texas and Texans.

Please accept my apologies tsquare and forgive me for blasting you. It is a sore subject for me.
See I got cancer here in Texas 2003 and my insurer for almost 10 years had the right to rescind me and my family. Rich Perry's office said that they were sorry I caught cancer; but insurers have the right to rescind. My family and I were then left with bills for cancer surgery, cancer treatment, and since it was a family policy finding a new health insurer. None would touch us only the one that rescinded us because the have a state monopoly for risk pool. It turned out they charged 400 percent above what I was paying and we had to dip into our savings and my oldest son's college fund to pay all the bills. My oldest ended up at a community college for his first 2 years and has gone on to UTD with the understanding he wants to change the law concerning the right of insurers to get customers off when they actually use their policies.
Again what may sound good to you does effect human beings and at some point may even effect you and your family. Just think about it before endorsing it.

For the same reason you, and a lot of people, just don't pick up and leave. We have family here. We have a young teen living with us who is still in high school and was born here. We will wait until he is finished and in university. He wants to get a hockey scholarship so the schools he has been looking to are up north and in Canada. I introduced him to Colgate College in Hamilton, New York having spent a year there as well as the University or Toronto (keep your stick on the ice).
When my wife finally retires in 5 years we both have 'dream plans' to move back to Victoria, BC and spend our summers there enjoying the Buchart Gardens, the Empress, the Royal BC Museum, and Pocket City for all its worth. In the winter we will visit our oldest here in Texas for some warmth.
