I'd like to take an informal poll, how many active members of this site are either members of law enforcement or are paid employees of a political entity? I am not either of these, just saying...
My guess is around half?
Any who...
For the record, Liberals, or whatever you call them, are not the toe jam from the devil's stinky toes as many of those dirty conservatives would have you believe. Actually, there are a number of common sense proposals being made by members of both political parties, but the corporate campaign behemoth we all know and love called 24 news networks, make it very difficult to get a word in edge-wise, and before you know it your proposal to fix health care is going to raise your taxes and herald the death of democracy or something. That's why any respectable academic no longer gathers information from polls, news organizations, think-tanks, or really anywhere other than social networking sites and accredited academic journals. Say I'm wrong, I dare you.
So I says to the guy...
HPV vaccines contain amorphous aluminum hydroxyphosphate sulfate along with a virus like particle that contains the proteins and antigens from a deceased HPV cell. The aluminum thing, well, google side effects of aluminum... It is not water-soluble, it competes for absorption with calcium (a key electrolyte), and it is a well known neuro-toxin. The side effects include; limb weakness or numbness, loss of memory, vision, and/or intellect, headache, cognitive and behavioral problems and sexual dysfunction. Too much of it, and you die, but that's only if someone took the vaccine and then went and drank too much tap water or took too many vitamins. Putting 225 mcg of aluminum directly into your blood stream will only increase your risk for all those things, so it gets CDC approval.
The other main ingredient is the actual DNA from the HPV cell. That sounds safe right? This is the only way to illicit the immune response evidently. Small amounts of the virus' DNA and proteins are found floating in your blood stream so hopefully your immune system creates antibodies for it and is better able to fight the disease if you are ever confronted with a real HPV cell.
The problem is that in at least 8% of all cases there were serious adverse reactions including 68 deaths. Obviously this number is less than the 4,000 who die annually from getting HPV, well, actually from getting cervical cancer. But it doesn't diminish the fact that there are safer alternatives. Let me say that again, having 8% of your patients walk away from your treatment with a CDC recognized "serious adverse reaction" is not good business.
There are safer alternatives, such as trying to develop more specific kinds of immunogens rather than antigens. Maybe not providing the vaccine to people until their bodies are more developed. 225 mcg of aluminum does more damage to a 90 pound person than a 130 pounder. Maybe don't give it to people with pre-existing conditions. Maybe realize that cervical cancer only results in 4000 deaths a year, making it non-existent in our list of concerns behind heart disease, lung disease, and other cancers, so maybe we shouldn't force people to get a vaccine for it, or maybe start forcing people to eat better and take more lipitor. Just saying.
Michelle Bachmann of the 6th congressional district of Minnesota, you are welcome to use my post, but if you do I'll take my share of that $11,000 in the form of farm subsidies, thank you.

I believe you're reading the numbers wrong. Out of 35,000,000 HPV vaccinations given, there were 18,727 reports of adverse effects. In other words, only 0.05% of people who receive the vaccination report adverse effects. Of that 0.05%, 8% were serious effects. 68 deaths were reported out of the 35 million people who received the vaccination, so about 0.0002% of the people who got the vaccination ended up dying.
Now, let's take a look at those deaths, from the CDC itself:
CDC - Reports of Health Concerns Following HPV Vaccination - Vaccine SafetyDeaths
As of June 22, 2011 there have been a total 68 VAERS reports of death among those who have received Gardasil® . There were 54 reports among females, 3 were among males, and 11 were reports of unknown gender. Thirty two of the total death reports have been confirmed and 36 remain unconfirmed due to no identifiable patient information in the report such as a name and contact information to confirm the report. A death report is confirmed (verified) after a medical doctor reviews the report and any associated records. In the 32 reports confirmed, there was no unusual pattern or clustering to the deaths that would suggest that they were caused by the vaccine and some reports indicated a cause of death unrelated to vaccination.

A big problem with those who oppose vaccines of any kind is just what you stated above, they don't read the numbers and clarifying information accurately. As a result, they lobby to drop the mandatory use of things such as small pox vaccines, MMR's, etc. and if enough people follow that line of thinking, we'll end up undoing all the progress we've made throughout the years because all epidemics and pandemics start with one case.

The scare about the MMR vaccine causing autism was the result of a fraudulent junk science paper published in the journal Lancet and crooked Dumocrat politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is in the pocket of the trial lawyers, jumping on the bandwagon.
And the current scare about the HPV vaccine is probably just as sinister.
The only thing I don't like about the public HPV vaccination programs is that they are excluding boys. I mean, why should the girls get vaccinated but not the boys? Seems discriminatory to me.

Wise words from a wise man.
Well, I must stand corrected. But 18,727 events reported to VAERS is still pretty bad. Consider the drug ephedra, banned by the FDA in 2004. How many deaths were linked to it? Certainly less than 68. And as you pointed out these deaths were after a doctor had made a careful determination and found a link. I think all vaccines should be used as intelligently and as safely as possible, and when complaints are made they should be listened to.
.05% is a pretty good success rate for 'adverse reactions', but I think we could do better.
I'm wondering why they can't take the aluminium out?

Well, remember that 92% (about 17,229) of that the 18,727 reports of adverse effects were classified as "non-serious". So, I wouldn't necessarily say it's "pretty bad". Even something like Nyquil comes with the risk of non-serious adverse effects.
Not sure, but I'd imagine they're not putting in just for fun. At least, I'd hope not.I'm wondering why they can't take the aluminium out?![]()

Exactly. I work for a CRO (Clinical Research Organization). Many of the clinical trials come with a percentage of the patients reporting adverse reactions. The type and degree are documented according to protocol and FDA regulations. Serious adverse reactions are documented and escalated whereas appropriate.
The success rate for the HPV vaccine is pretty damn excellent.
