Default The moon landing

I really think USPOL should have a conspiracy section. But before I go into the wacko world, is it some sort of collective reasoning that grand conspiracies can not exist; are just out and out impossible like a aquare circle despite suspicious and unanswerable evidence?

Here are some interesting links that propose that the lunar landing on the moon was fake:

http://www.apfn.org/apfn/moon.htm

and:

http://batesmotel.8m.com/

Do you remember the James Bond movie "Diamonds Are Forever"? If you have seen this movie you may remember a scene where Mr. Bond, James Bond tries to escape the clutches of evil henceman through a scientific space research facility. He runs into a room that looks like a studio set up to be a lunar landscape with slow motion actors in moon suits and the whole bit. I thought that was sorta funny. Anyway, I'm kinda swayed to believe there is a better than good chance we have been duped. And if it one day, somehow, came out that it was fake, I'm almost positive that I would have one of the best laughs I had in a long time.

Can't leave out partisan hackery:

Bush could learn a lot about public duplicity from that good 'ol administration!

We totally landed on the moon.

Anyone who says otherwise will be beaten down with my logic stick of justice.

(BTW, I agree on the conspiracy forum part)

Despite being exposed to the movie "Capricorn One" at a very young age, I continue to believe in the moon landing. In fact, I'm pretty sure I was there myself after that whole alien-abduction episode.

Seriously, I suppose it's possible that it was a hoax, but my money is against it.

I haven't seen that movie, but I've heard much about it. Some moon hoax believers actually refer to that movie as proof we didn't land on the moon, oddly enough..

I'm with you. That's the last time I trust an alien with a probe asking me if I "Just wanna go check out the moon or something."

I firmly, 100% believe we went there. I don't think there is any room for the possibility of a hoax. I challenge anyone to prove otherwise! I challenge anyone to a race around the world!

Okay, I don't really challenge anyone to that last part, but the "prove otherwise" still stands.

Well, if you want, I'm down. I need to put my 30's era biplane to some sort of use.

Crap. We have too many intelligent folk around here. My logic stick of justice is becoming just as useless as my biplane.

Ok, good. Would you both be so kind as to answer this question: Why are you sure that we did infact land on the moon? If I may...could it be because to suggest otherwise is insanity, or because why riddle your mind with the possibility of being fool on such a grand scale?
Why exactly do you believe it is true and/or that a hoax is impossible/improbable?

I saw a documentary where the absolute proof that US landed on the moon was a mirror type measurement device which is used to determine the distance between earth and moon. You just point a laser to where it is and it bounces back and from that they calculate the distance. Of course if you are a total conspiracy nut you'll say that it could have been placed there by a satellite. But then again there are still lots of those moon rocks to examine.

No, I considered the possibility that we didn't land on the moon, then I went and researched it. I found there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that we did not go, and mountains of evidence that says we did.

I wouldn't call anyone who doesn't believe we landed on the moon 'insane', I would simply suggest they are a bit ignorant of the facts.

Is there anything in particular that makes you think it might not have gone on as history says?

Yes, the mirrors left up there would seem to be good proof, but then moon hoax believers will simply say it was left by an unmanned vehicle.

And the moon rocks are another good example of proof. However, moon hoax believers will say that chunks of the moon can easily be found on the earth, brought here by meteorites. The fact that entry into the atmosphere and earthly contamination would leave tell-tale signs that this happened is ignored.
