I mention 'Ontos' (Greek for 'The Thing') because the Marines tested it in Vietnam in the late 50's before finally emcorporating it into their units in the early 60's, which was a big mistake on their part. That was how my then co-worker got wounded, and his friend was killed- trying to unjam an Ontos barrel.
I am sorry to hear that.
do Ontos is this weapon?i find it in a Chinese military forum, and that article said,US Army used this weapon in battle" Operation Starlite"" in Auguest,1965.Van Tuong,S.Vietnam.

'General, do you remember XXXXX (unsure of the locale) in Vietnam where some serious fighting took place in 1968?'

'Yes. I do' was the reply.

'And do you remember a young Marine Lt whose platoon had been chewed-up pretty bad, and who you told to 'Get a shave, and change of uniform, because you look like a slob?'

The General was speechless.

'Well', the Rrepresentitive who often said that growing up he was 'the only kike (derogatory term for "Jew') on the block.', and therefore had to be mean from early on just to survive, continued 'That Marine Lt. was me, and I'll be goddamned if you ever hold the office of dog catcher in this state, you son of a bitch!'
Haha,it seems Westmorland really speechless on subject of politics.is GOP mean "Republic party"?

Ford had made the cheapest car in the world for people who couldn’t afford regular sedans, People don’t remember the low price tag, just the no frills.

I know McNamara is old now.54 thousand American’s dead in Vietnam is not only his fault. Most of them were dead after 1968,in 1968,Macnamara had resigned.
Where are you guys coming from?
There was no anti-war movements, they were anti-American movements trying to thwart Americas defense against the spread of communism.
Same with south Korea. You can’t allow these people to get stronger and stronger.

Bullshit Hank. This is just the George W Bush form of historical revisionism. They were Americans just like you and I. They had a right to speak their mind, just like you and I. And just because you disagreed with them makes them no more or less Americans than you or members of your church are for example even though I probably would disagree with a lot of what they believe in.

I was there. It was not a matter of “freedom of speech exercises” or “opinions.” They were terrorist bombing and killing civilians and assassinating judges that ruled against there causes. That’s why I can see what you cannot. They can’t airbrush my memory.

You may have been there, Hank, but you've given ample justification for disregarding your recollections as in no way being interpreted accurately.

Winter,

Yes, those are pictures of Ontos in your posts above. What the pictures can't show is that the multiple-barrel feature resulted in multiple jams.

'GOP' in the American context, does mean the Republicans: The 'Grand Old Party'.

I believe the acronym comes from the post-Civil War era, when Union veterans organized local chapters dedicated to the memory of the 'Grand Army of The Republic'.

They can't airbrush mine anymore than they can yours Hank. You weren't the only one on this board alive, old enough to be aware of what was going on and see it first hand you know. Perhpas you should consider that the next time you post drivel like the movement of the 60's and 70's wasn't anti war it was anti America. Who the hell made you the guarantor of what is or is not considered American in the first place. You are not omniscient, hell you aren't even right most of the time, and this is a clear example of that.
