Default Mexican Flag Burns at Arizona High School

Sweeeeeeeeeeet................

Quote:
This week’s tensions over immigration reform literally caught fire in the East Valley on Thursday when students raised a Mexican flag over Apache Junction High School — and then other students yanked it down and burned it.

Yeah, I heard about it. Just as they're saying here, it's nothing more than dumb high school antics by both sides that doesn't deserve to be in the political arena. Sam, this is childish behavior by all and only creates hate for one another - please don't promote stupidity. Is this the kind of stuff that gets your blood flowing? It's stupid and childish. The kids were wrong for hanging a Mexican flag, this is America. If they carry it on their person, that's an expression of heritage. The kids had every right to take it down, but burning it only makes people feel like their heritage is being attacked, but those kids hanging up the flag created that response.

What I don't understand Sam is why this sort of immature behavior give you the jollies.

A foreign flag does not belong flying over an American high school for sure. It was also chauvanistic for Mexican-Americans (presumably) to put it up there to send a message (likely over culture and immigration issues currently in the forefront). It was equally sinister for non-Mexican Americans (presumably) to burn it after taking it down. What a sad state of affairs insofar as community relations between different ethnic groups--both were sending ugly messages to the other over the current culture and immigration issues in what they all did.

Well, I hope this doesn't lead to any violence, it's so unnecessary. We must remember that they're just high school kids, with a little too much not thinking before one acts going on.

You notice who started it as a flagrant attempt to inflame? This is not about heritage or stupid stunts. This was deliberately done to inflame Americans.

I think OSB's avatar is actually indicative of two things. Not only is it a beautiful shot from the old days. But it's also a political statement as well. It says that the twin towers and liberty go hand in hand. The twin towers should not be used to take away liberty. In other words, 9/11 should not be used to take away liberty.

2 cents.

Raising the Mexican flag over an American high school is asking for trouble, and that's what they got.

If they're so in love with Mexico....one wonders why they're here.

Whatever government employee permitted a foreign flag to be flown should be fired.
