Default Immigration Debate Really Even Matter?

Does the Immigration Debate Really Even Matter?

Do people in the United States really care about illegal immigration, or is the debate simply a creation of "the media" responding to press releases from the different involved interests in efforts to create sensationalized news to sell?

I’m going to check out the new program 30 Days on July 26th on the FX channel. It seems like it shows both sides of the debate in a balanced way.

Um... if thousands of people marching in the streets = don't care, then I'd say you're spot on.

Don’t even tell me that we immigrants don’t work just as hard as everyone else! The first episode of 30 Days on the FX channel features a hard-working immigrant family.

30 days show was biased and displayed some of the most worse reverse racism I've ever seen. How about the mother saying "I hope they don't send us some blonde haired, blue eyes gringo"? And the daughter repeating "I could understand him disagreeing if he were white, but not if he's Latino." Oh, so Latinos arent allowed to think independently? I gotcha, I gotcha. Funny, they showed in subtitles the word "gringo" but listening to her speak in Spanish, she was saying more than that and said along with it the word "garbacho" which is a word used with more mal intent in Spanish. I guess they wanted to omit that, of course so as to not disturb the viewing public from the nice, polite illegals.

Ridiculous show. Massive appeal to emotion, no logical reason to base the show on. Isn't that the guy who made "Super Size Me"?

I really enjoyed your little essay. I would love to read more of your work.

Yes dear reader, that was sarcasm.

I think the immigration debate is more of the tail wagging the dog type of issue. I am of the opinion, that a better system of market friendly immigration policies would also help generate enough revenue to be self-sufficient.

What do you mean market friendly immigration policies? I've seen you mention them a couple of times, but I don't really understand the concept.

Yes, it would be the same fool who produced that trash film.

The problem of illegal immigration is this. I would feel safe saying that most people don't have a problem with immigrants in general. Personally, I favor raising the number we allow legally into the US each year. The problem comes from people entering the country illegally. The supports of illegal immigration have done a wonderful job linking legal and illegal immigration in debate, to make their opponents appear to be bigots. The US, like most other nations, is governed by laws. These laws must be obeyed. It's part of the cost of living in a society is that you must accept the rules the society sets out. Illegal immigrants miss that point.

It's like anything else. We could be making enough money, with more market friendly immigration policies, instead of just spending money enforcing policies that are not only not market friendly, but also aren't very effective.

Okay, but what is an example of a market friendly immigration policy?
