Default North Carolina house passes Legal Status bill

http://www.wilmingtonstar.com/apps/p.../APN/607250983

North Carolina passes a bill that says Employers must verify the legal status of an employee. I think it's great that NC is going to give it a shot by leading the way with good examples.

To email reps from NC, you can go here (http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/membe...Chamber=Senate) and send a few emails asking that they please pass this bill (that is if you believe in the rule of law.)

Hmm . . . . Introduced at the last second so that it has little chance of becoming law. According to the article the bill does not actually fund the mandate so that it has little chance of being enforced even if it became law. And there is no mention of a penalty for corporate noncompliance which means it has little chance of being followed even if it was enforced.

Yeah I'd say those NC politicians deserver a pat on the back. But from the busiensses who will continue to hire illegals - not from the rest of us. They've managed (like politicians usually do) to give all the appearance of addressing this problem without actually causing any discomfort to the source of their campaign funds.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from. It's a lot like the the Senate OK'ing fence to built along the Border but then voting to not fund it, mentioned here. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1665588/posts

I recieved an email about this today at work...

http://www.alipac.us/modules.php?nam...=189241#189241

Update on this issue: NC is now one of over 30 states that have passed state laws restricting illegal immigration.

One, NC Licenses will now require a valid social security number thus blocking illegal aliens from getting licenses in NC if the law is properly applied.
Two, starting Jan 1, 2007 all new hires in state government must be screened for legal presence or citizenship. The school systems have till March of 2007 to implement this change.
Three, the technical corrections bill (S 1523, page 18.) authorizes our local and state police to begin enforcing immigration laws!
Four, S 1896 places new laws in place regarding human trafficking!

There are supposed to be many more details announced a little later which I will post.
