Both Democrats and Republicans have been dismal failures in doing anything to combat illegal immigration. I blame them both, and I applaud these cities for doing the right thing...

First the illegal has to cross the border before ever getting a job. Now it's the government's fault for letting in illegals and not closing our border. Further based on your comment you want an open border no need for passports etc..

    At what cost, "conservative?"

How much more should the government spend to "close the border?"

Amazing how some people can only such a tiny part of the problem. If there were no jobs, they would not cross the border and a lot of money could be saved making fences that don't work.

It is the fault of the people hiring them, not the ones hiring one or two, but those manufacturing plants, or huge farms, or meat packing places that hire large numbers of them. There were 500 of them in one large meat packing place here in Iowa. The manager was also providing them with false papers, for a fee of course.

Taking your head out, does wonders for seeing the whole picture.

    It's a three part problem.

Part one: A government which seems to have no interest in securing the border.

Part two: Illegal scumbag aliens who break our laws by crossing our porous border.

Part three: Scumbag employers who give illegal scumbag aliens jobs.

All three need to be addressed. Without that, the problem will never go away. No one of the three is any more or less to blame. We need to secure our borders, we need to quickly deport illegal scumbag aliens, and we need to levy fines, arrest the HMFIC's, and seize any and all assets of the companies that hire them.

Anyone who doesn't see the importance of all three is part of the problem...

    Agreed.

And once companies across America see the fed is serious about cracking down on companies that hire illegals, there will be less companies hiring them.

For the moment, a handful of courageous cities are leading the way.

And like the man quoted in the OP said, when they close down a Wal-Mart or a McDonalds for violations, then everyone will most certainly pay attention.

    Hopefully very soon.

Why do you suggest the government has to spend any more money to control the border.

Because the US has one of (if not the - can't remember and can't be arsed to google it) longest unsecured borders in the world. To secure the borders of the USA to prevent any and all unwanted movement across said borders would require incredible capital and person-hour expenditures.

So, how much are you willing to spend?

the border is as secure as we can make it. Why don't you go down and take a crack at doing a little sentry duty for the good of your nation. Since you don't like the way the other troopers are doing it.
