I have not seen the detailed plans BUT if we are to embark on a program to update roads, bridges and other public structures to increase employment will the construction type work be handed over to inexperienced labor or at least in the state of Texas find a continuation of the usual Mexican labor and attract more workers from south of the border (for the same reasons now existing) ?
According to various stories Texas will benefit under either circumstance (more jobs and more monies for consumers to spend. "White Black or Brown". )
Boom or Bust Let's get underway !![]()

Well, skeptic, if the levee work in Louisiana is any indication, then I'll have to say that it's going to be a lot of non-English speaking "immigrants" being hired. They're also on every road crew I've seen here in the past few years which really pisses me off because the flag jobs often went to women and I can't tell you the last time I saw a woman out there.![]()

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="4"][COLOR="Indigo"]I live in LOUISIANA, where flip flops come out in February, we don't have fire flies, we have "lightning bugs", we don't have crayfish in the creeks, we have "crawfish" in the ditch, "taters" are mandatory, "y'all" is a proper noun, chicken is fried, biscuits come with gravy, sweet tea is the house wine, and you never, ever disrespect your elders. There may not be very many white collar office workers willing or able to do this type of work. But there are lots and lots of other US Citizens that are more then qualified to do it. There will still be a need for office workers, someone will need to keep up with the paper work end of the jobs.

Who says that jobs will actually be created?

What gets me the most is the current debate seems to be over a year (or so, as this passes through Congress of debates) of payroll tax decreases making me question the effectiveness of the idea. Generally that gets bi-partisan support historically speaking. But, even if you mix in some other temporary tax breaks for hiring for targetted groups there will be few corporations out there that will hire in terms of one year (or other short term) plans. That is not market impact, economic impact, or any kind of certanty for corporate decision making... that is re-election strategy, or political "stimulus" spending. I guess we will find out more in the coming days as this stays an issue through Congress.

If any of the funds that the govt robs from future generations are spent in Texas, you can bet your last dollar that there will be wetbacks o'plenty on the jobsites.............and NO ONE will do a fucking thing about it. No one.

When they call you racist, they mean they lack the intelligence, intellect, and composure to examine facts and engage in actual debate on the topic.
