It's an internet poll buddy, you get very very highly skewed results out of any of them.

They are better suited to the gamespy type poll of "which is better, pie or ham" then to be taken seriously.

My thoughts exactly. Live opinion polls on the Internet have potentially little valid substance -- for instance, the same people can vote multiple times.

How can they do that?

A number of ways, depending on how the poll is set up, if it simply puts in a cookie to prevent you from voting again, clearing your cookies or using another browser will solve the problem. Which seems to be the case in this one since switching between firefox and IE6 gave me another vote.

If the people are really careful they can tie it to both IP addresses but that has a number of problems, and still wouldn't prevent many people with dynamic IPs from voting twice.

In the case of US politicsonline its tied to your registration, which is in turn tied to your IP address (preventing you from holding multiple accounts), but in this case it is questionable of its scientific value for even discerning the opinions of the people on this forum as it will still only reflect those who chose to participate and thus, isn't a random sampling.
