I think Mel Gibson gets a bad rap. He was accused of anti-semitism on the Passion of the Christ by people who hadn't even seen the film. And then all the talk of anti-semitism went away after the film came out, because the attitude of 'Passion' is clearly not anti-semetic. The movie didn't twist anything. In fact, the movie was quite fair in seeing that the indifference that the Jews faced towards Jesus contributed to his demise. There is nothing anti-semetic about that. Had it been a Japanese story about how their actions against one of their own, I suppose some would be quick to call it anti-Japanese, when it fact it isn't.
As for Gibson's arrest; I don't know. If he doesn't like Jews, than that's wrong, but as far as his film career goes, he hasn't shown any anti-semitism whatsoever. Mad Max was great, but that was clearly not his last great movie. Lethal Weapon is superbly entertaining, Braveheart is awesome, the Passion is exhilirating and sad and truthful, and Ransom is a pretty good Friday night kind of movie. Don't overlook The Year of Living Dangerously from 1982, or the Bounty, where he starred with Anthony Hopkins. Those are two of his best performances as an actor. |

I hear he's adding a laugh track to Schindlers List.

He also has a lot of experience with the Jewish controlled American film industry. So he knows what he's talking about. |
