It's not bashing...it is an attempt to pull you from the lunatic far left that you have recently mesmerized yourself with.

This man has to make a decision about whether he wants customers or if he wants to show the people that he doesn't care how they feel about him. How far is he willing to go? Will he let his family and business suffer because of it? Maybe he feels it's worth it to be dead right but I wouldn't.
What I find interesting is that this flag is a gift from his son. If the townspeople had done just a modicum of research and asked the man what the deal was they could have been properly informed. Instead, research is something emphasized in high school and beyond, and since these people clearly didn't make it out of middle school it is understandable that they would object to something that they don't know anything about. They never learned the proper procedures for getting information.

Again, no different in that aspect than the rebel flag. If I chose to fly it to display my pride in my southern heritage, do you think a black man would ask me if I was racist? No, because the symbol is most associated with racism, therefore to most, any one flying it is racist. Rainbow flags are most associated with homosexuals so most assume that anyone flying it is gay or supports gays. (There's also a possibility his son was trying to tell him something....)

He might ask you before he starts rallying bigots to protest and send you death threats. The minister of this town is Christian in name only. In practice he's a devil worshipping hate-mongerer. Typical of small town Amerikkka.

That actually fits the "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to work I go" tune pretty well...

Mrs. M,

Yeah, I can see where some might choose to take down the flag to make life easier for themselves, but to keep it flying, especially since he has publicly stated that there is no political motivation behind it, is just as valid a decision. It's his right, and I don't think anyone could condemn him for taking either option.

As ridiculous as it is that people will boycott a place for the rainbow colours (good luck finding a place to eat downtown if you ever visit Vancouver, bumpkins..), the fact is that the dude is running a business and if you want to do business you can't step outside of the norms of your market.

Of course, there's also the aspect of the unfair, sensationalist article written by the local rag. Who writes an article about a local without even attempting to contact them?

Wow. Has the rainbow really come to only symbolize gay pride? I can only imagine what would happen if a sun shower were to create a natural rainbow over the town of Meade. Would the local paper and the townspeople try to run the sky out of business?

I have no sympathy for commercial rights. The law of the market says the customer is always right.

If the customers object, it is their right to do so.
