Politico has an interesting article this morning about Michelle Bachmann's, and her ability to never tell the truth about anything.
Here is a snippet of the article (the link here is for the excerpt of the story on page 2)

The article begins here Michele Bachmann's misstatements: A constant staff worry - Molly Ball - POLITICO.comPlenty of politicians say things on the campaign trail that aren’t quite true — mixing up numbers, citing misleading statistics, repeating urban legends. But Bachmann appears to be in a class by herself.
Through January 2011, Bachmann held the rare distinction of having had every one of her claims that were evaluated by PolitiFact rated either “False” or “Pants on Fire.” The streak ended at 13 when a Bachmann statement about the stimulus merited a mere “Mostly False.”
It wasn’t until this past June that Bachmann, for the first time, had a claim rated “True” by the nonpartisan website.
Now, is Michelle Bachmann that uninformed on issues that she gets almost everything she says wrong, and in that case is she really up to the task of being president? Or is it that she deliberately lies about issues in order to advance her position and campaign? Again, is she then really credible enough to have the integrity to be president?
Why aren't the voters and the media holding politicians to the appropriate standard? If Obama lied 13 times in a row, the conservative media and GOP would be all over him, yet Bachmann gets a free pass? I wish the partisan nature would leave the public reporting of politics, and instead the media report on politicians factually - in other words, the media needs to drop the partisan approach and treat all politicians the same. If that were the case, Michelle Bachmann would be a non-entity, instead of a Tier 1 candidate.
ahoy Noahath,
i don't this Mrs. Bachmann deliberately lies...i just think the lass gets very excited and passionate at times, and just kinda says whatever be stirrin' her emotions the most, i think she believes every word she utters (which be either scary, amusin', or inspirin', dependin' on one's point 'o view). thats the reason that the GOP elite don't really take her very seriously.
it does make me wonder why thar be such a host 'o "Obama lied" kinda statements on USPO, but a dearth 'o observations on Mrs. Bachmann's errant statements.
i think, probably, it be because thar be certain issues that conservatives acknowledge, but don't wanna discuss...and to be fair, i think the same dynamic exists on the liberal side 'o the ledger. it just happens that fer the last few years, USPO hath become a right leanin' site, so its natural that ye would see less critique's 'o Mrs. Bachmann's relationship with the truth than ye might see elsewhar.
ie - none 'o our folk who wear thar Tea Party stripes with pride had any comment in this thread; http://www.uspoliticsonline.com/capi...ml#post1977576
...then again, what be thar to say?
scribe an "Obama lied" kinda thread on USPO, and the response will be robust.

How is Bachmann getting a free pass? I haven't seen anything at all that would lead me to believe that the media is ignoring her gaffes.
There's no way in hell that I'd go so far as to suggest that she is deliberately lying about stuff. That would be really disingenuous. Politicians of all stripes, though, do tend to talk out their ass a lot. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the story about George Washington and the cherry tree was "enhanced".
"People Died; Obama Thrived" - blatantly stolen from "Grey_Whiskers"
Bachmann is populist. She has the same problem that Palin had; she has experience but it's limited and her understanding of things like foreign and economic policy is limited.
The best card she has to play now is ideological purity and her appeal to the radical Republicans, like the teabaggers.
That requires her to make these grand and populist statements that get her base going but arent quite true.

If you tell your supporters what they want to hear, even if you know its not factually correct, are you a liar? Or are you just gathering support from your base?
I think she must know that at least SOME of what she says is non-factual. That makes her an intentional liar. Of course, almost all politicians do this. The thing that makes her more distinct is the degree of doing it.
Liberals fail to recognize that modern conservatives are direct evidence of the failure of the public education system.

ahoy Wooyarn,
perhaps matey, perhaps....i don't know. i still think that Mrs. Bachmann isn't really lyin'. i think the lass believes everythin' she says. she's just ruled by her passions and emotions, me hearty. that makes her kinda unstable, but not a lair.
...and, just as in this thread, http://www.uspoliticsonline.com/capi...ml#post1977581, USPO's Tea Party contigent really doesn't have anythin' to say on this matter either.
*tips his hat to Lutherf*
i give the mighty Lutherf credit, fer he be the only one 'o USPO's Tea Party buckaroos to venture forth in these discussions.
