Default Learning or Remembering?

It's the philosophical debate that has been going on for thousands of years, which side do you guys stand on? Are we who we are because it's who we are, or are we who we are because of what we've experienced?

Wouldn't a more appropriate title for this thread be "Nature or Nurture"?

And then there are the stars

I think it's a combination of genes, environment and where the stars were, in the sky, and the time place and date of your birth.

Yeah, I was using a more archiac term for it. Means the exact same thing though.

Are you serious about that?

I believe in a combination of genes and environment. I further believe that the relative effect of the genes versus environment may vary from one person to another and that you can use your will to work on this.

Semi serious. Since know one knows the answer I made up my own theory. Here it is.

Since The Creator didn't feel like micro-managing every personality as each new child was born, She decided to set it up so that every personality trait will be determined at the placement of the planets and moon and sun at the time of birth.

That takes care of about 1/3 of your personality and the rest is determined by your environment and genes.

Dr - if you tell me your time, date and place of birth I can find the personality traits that astrology says fit and you can decide if astrologers have it right. I have a program Mine fits me pretty spot on. It's kinda cool.

I categorically reject the notion that large collections of helium and hydrogen have the slightest impact on my life

It's who we are because of what man has experinced for thousands of years. Even before man walked upright and became "man", life was survival of the fittest, and today we have..................survival of the fittest. Man merely became what was required in order to survive. So simple.
