Ok thanks, DGG. There's a BIG difference between not having to know anything and not being able to know anything with absolute certainty. If we don't attempt to gain knowledge of the world around us, the deepest philosophical knowledge "I think, therefore I am" may become the famous last words. Except there'll be no one around to make them famous.

We are physically perhaps the weakest creatures on earth and we procreate at an alarmingly slow rate. That's quite enough "flaws" to compensate for by using our most prominent feature. Even if it can't make us as certain as some of us pretend, it can obviously keep us alive as a species.
