Of course you emphatically disagree-- you got my argument backwards. They weren't trying to protect democracy, which they were afraid of, and which many of their ideological descendants are still afraid of. (Look at the Libertarians, and some of the less religiously insane conservatives.)
They were protecting liberalism from the authoritarian pressures of democracy.

I agree AND disagree with different parts of your statements.
First off, the following in itself is not an accurate statement:
Anyone can be a democrat. You just join the party. ;)
Okay -- I'll quit being superficial. People can be conservatives but still affiliate themselves with the democratic party for certain reasons. Certain aspects of the party's platform attract them.; however, that doesn't mean they embrace all aspects of the platform. They could be very conservative on social issues but want many of the services the democrats fight for.
Put it this way --- what percentage of construction workers do you know that support equality for homosexuals and stuff like that? Not many I'm sure. But many are democrats because the party of supported by their Unions.
We do not live in a black and white world -- lots a grey areas here.
The following statement I agree with:
Our founding father's WERE liberal in their beliefs - from the very standpoint that they were creating change.
The problem now is that the republicans now embrace half the issues of our founding fathers and the democrats embrace the other half of the issues.
Neither party is a true representation of our founding father's wishes. If one were, I'd belong to it. Since no party reflects my views, I call myself a "traditionalist." :D
There is NO part of basic freedom embraced by conservatives or republicans. They are in favor of a slave labor state which is what the constitution was design to end. Democrats favor freedom and more importantly individual freedom and that is what this country was founded on.

Once again you have defined me and my ilk so accurately! Oh, how I love the sound of slave spirituals being sung on a hot Georgia morning as I sip my mint julip and watch the stock ticker list the billions I am making in the slave labor business.
People will pay more attention to you if you ground your statements in at least half-truths rather than just shooting out wild and irrational propoganda.

You need to heed your own advice and quit trying to villify the truth.

But it's so vastly untruthful! I strive very hard to live by a rule - nothing comes for nothing. Slavery give someone something for nothing, while the slave produces something and recieves nothing. So it's not compatible with my capitalist ideals.
SO how do you get off making these outrageous statements? I'm not really upset because I know that you make these statements often enough that everyone is numbed to them. But lately I am interested in what makes people like you an Philip the Anti-Semite tick. Either you're B.S.-ing us with all this exreme insanity or you are seriously both very warped.
It's just that Philip fits the mold of the Illinois Nazi so perfectly, and you the mold of the Egg-Sucking Dog Liberal so well. It's almost like you are reading from a script. It's too stereotypical to be real, is my point.

Ah Calling me insane is just another conservative tactic to disspell the truth. Tough luck. I am perfectly sane!

I read his post. He didn't call you insane!
Do liberals make it up as they go so that they don't have to confront reality? :)

But do you sometimes doubt the sanity of Philip the Anti-Semite? Realize that you come across with the same fanatical appeal with your anti-conservatism.
