Some are aware Joe McGinniss's new book about Sarah Palin is due out (or maybe already is out), named The Rogue.
There's been some minor chatter about it around the various chat rooms and forums, some of which have raised some points in the book about Palin that I find quite unsavory. So, not one to jump quickly into the newest and brightest, I figured I'd look into McGinnis a bit, first, and then decide if I wanted to read the book.
I just spent a few minutes reading the dripping bile on Joe McGinnis's blog just to get to know in some small way the character of a man who would go to such expense to write something like an "unauthorized" biography like that.
His clear and almost virulent hatred of anything with the name "Palin" made reading his blog quite uncomfortable. He taunts her, her family (including her daughter's newborn daughter) and accuses Sarah, specifically, of all manner of loathesome behaviors. He also, at one point in the blog, unleashes his invective on all Christians everywhere for what he doesn't think they do.
I have seldom seen anything in writing that is so vitriolic that it's unnerving and I cannot believe this "man" wrote anything of value in his book.
I concur with others who have said they don't have time for this book, except I not ONLY don't have the time, but I also don't have the interest... because to read the book would mean I'd have to purchase it somewhere and I refuse to fund that man's hatred.
I have decided I don't want to read the book badly enough to pay for it.
Maybe the Kindle store will offer it as a freebie: I might read it then... but it won't be at the top of my list.
Even the NYT panned it.
From the review:
Sarah Palin Could See This Guy From Her HouseBut “The Rogue” makes the Palins’ widely publicized anger understandable, even to readers who might have defended his right to set up shop in their neighborhood and soak up the local color. Although most of “The Rogue” is dated, petty and easily available to anyone with Internet access, Mr. McGinniss used his time in Alaska to chase caustic, unsubstantiated gossip about the Palins, often from unnamed sources like “one resident” and “a friend.”
It's truly remarkable that even now people are still going to such lengths to discredit and defame Sarah Palin. It's also kind of telling that eventually the cause for all of the vitriol and sleaze boils down to "I hate her because she's religious" or "I hate her because of the way she talks". The irony here is that this loathsome behavior is akin to things that were done in 17th century Salem or 16th century Spain.....exactly the type of actions that are cited by so many "progressives" as the reason for their hatred of organized religion.

I'm not a fan of Palin's but attacking her children and grandchild is about as low as a person can go so any anger she exhibits is well-founded, IMO. It's freaking politics and those children can't even vote so leave them the hell out of it!(Same goes for Obama's kids or any other politician's kids!)

That would seem reasonable but the Sarah Palin phenomena seems to be kind of unique in that I have seen comments by LOTS of mothers who slam not only her but Bristol and the other kids too. I attribute most of the insanity to a certain level of desensitization brought on by relatively anonymous electronic communications becoming more and more the norm but even at that I don't understand how people can fail to comprehend that there is a real human being at the other end of that comment.

Just as Sarah Palin is a phenom, so is the hatred of her. It goes beyond reason in just about all areas, and goes beyond the normal jealousies of a beautiful and successful woman. I've seen entire blogs on her wardrobe choice and hairdo.
Her relationship with the media is yet another phenomenon, love/hate personified. They follow her every move as in the bus tour [I think she called it off because it became such a media circus], they rarely ask appropriate questions but continue to fall back on the "gotcha". The whole thing about Paul Revere warning the British was case in point , and notice how none of them admitted she was right and they were wrong.
I hate to say this because I love Saturday Night Live [it was of my generation after all] but IMO the continued slamming of her by Tina Fey set the stage to turn her into a political pinata.

Good1: "Who is Joe McGinnis and why is he saying such terrible things?"
Answer: He's a guy who doesn't have any skills but needs money.
It's a pretty simple answer.
