Default Re: Expectations of Saddam's trial

The former President of Iraq has been in rare form the past couple of days. He seems to be using the defendant's box as the same old bully pulpit. Long political diatribes, insulting his prosecutors, whining about his living conditions, complaints of "beatings and torture" at the hands of his U.S. guards, challenging court's legitimacy.

Today his half-brother and co-defendant ranted about the food he is being served, complaining that his ribs are showing because of weight loss, accused prosecutors of being former Baath Party members, i.e. calling the kettle black.

Fisticuffs among Hassan, Hussein and prosecutors, prompted by Hussein's claim that a guard had been rude to him, and must be disciplined, since he is a small employee.

Does he not realize he is no longer Mr. Big Stuff?

Must make for GREAT court TV...

It will prevent other forums from becoming a mess. I think it is a very good idea and hope it will be extended to other issues as they appear.
