If this man had been governor during Katrina, a lot of things would have happened differently because he didn't take any bullshit from anyone. If he had been governor during the BP spill, he and the state would have been much wealthier. Was he a crook? Yep, but he was an honest one and the state did well under his governorship. The damn feds should have kept their nose out of state business!

Edwin Edwards' house arrest is over

Chris Miller Reporting
It's the end of home confinement for convicted former Louisiana Governor Edwin W. Edwards. A posting on the Facebook page of Trina Scott Grimes, Edwards fiancee, says the former governor completed the paperwork this morning to complete his term of house arrest.

Now that the former governor is free from those obligations, the soon-to-be-84-year-old has a lot of living to do!

Here is what Edwin Edwards said Tuesday night on Facebook:

"This is my last night...I'll wake up in the morning able to leave the house and travel and I hope to see you all and thank you in person for all of your support!

"Looking forward to being out and about!"

Edwards' social calendar includes a party to celebrate his turning 84 on August 7. There is also talk of a reality TV show, and let's not forget his engagement to Grimes, who's about 50 years younger than Edwards.

Edwards' biographer Leo Honeycutt says none of this surprises him.

"It's his life and he can do with it what he wishes," Honeycutt told WWL First News. "He's still very dynamic...he's still a lot of fun to be around and at 84, he doesn't seem to be stoppable!"
