    Default Minnesota shutdown

Here in Minnesota, we find ourselves 12 days into a state government shutdown. To add insult to injury, some of us might find our favorite watering holes running dry.

I am a liberal, a classical liberal. Classical liberalism is liberalism, but the current collectivists have captured that designation in the United States. In Europe they are glad enough to call themselves socialists. But no one in America wants to be called socialist and admit what they are.

This problem won't last long... the state won't be able to do without the tax revenue.

In Minnesota? How are people not rioting in the streets?
During the journey we commonly forget its goal. Almost every profession is chosen as a means to an end but continued as an end in itself. Forgetting our objectives is the most frequent act of stupidity.

    Dayton folds:

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton sent a letter Thursday to House Speaker Kurt Zellers and Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, saying he "reluctantly" agrees to accept the Republican budget proposal from June 30 if it will end the government shutdown .

Not quite. He added conditions. Tough to say whether the MN GOP will take the deal.

He did blink, he'll make the deal. (give him the bonds and 1/2 the social issues and be done)

I doubt the GOP will go for that because the dropping of those social policy issues will make it impossible to address the structural problems Minnesota faces. That, and the bond will only make this same argument pop up in another couple years.

Well then we'll have to wait and see, won't we?

Dayton needs the government open a lot more than the GOP does and he made that point today.
