Default How Threads and Post are Considerad as Being Read

It can be frustrating clicking on "New Posts" and getting 2 pages, but by the time the first page has been read, there is no 2nd page.

It's all in how the forum considers the messages as read, and I'd like to point out that the most commin, and IMHO, better way, is to not mark post read until they have been clicked on, and to not mark threads read until the last post in that thread has been clicked on.

I've clicked on threads, only to find that I'm a different page than the actual 'first new post', or to see someone reply to a reply of my post, having never seen the first reply.

This can make for a very scattered thread, and could be the cause why so many of the threads head in several different directions. It would be much easier to stay on topic, if you could always see the next post after yours, or the next post after the last one you read.

Note that one of the 3 options, the last one, does take more system time, but unless this is a slow IP, I've never seen enough users online at one time to make this a problem.

It would be nice to hear something on this, either a yes, a no or even just a "go to hell". Also, the initial issue that I raised about clicking on "Go to New Post" can have direct impact from this.

Any chance of getting this looked at, corrected, or at least a "fuck off" from someone?

I'd help with that last part but it is against forum rules..........sorry.

Since you are neither a mod or an admin, I'll give your reply all the weight it deserves. Does negative weight tell you anything?

This is currently under review. While we have this option, it doesn’t necessarily mean that enabling it will work out best for the site. Among other things, we are checking to see how the altered cookie traffic will affect site bandwidth.

Thanks, Nohath had PM'd me about the same. Appreciate the response and understand that the setting that I suggested will take additional bandwidth. Thanks for doing the additional work that I've asked of all of you.
