Is it me or is this forum getting overrun by radcial right-wing fanatics?

It's interesting you say that Tom, as I don't think the Forum is as bad now with right wing posters as we've had in the past. What generally happens is that when there's a shift in politics, the opposite side appears to be more dominant because they are often more vocal in their political opposition. When Bush was in power, I'm sure many on the right would say that the Forum was over-run by leftists (I personally don't agree though).

The thing we're seeing now IMO is that although the number of right wing posters hasn't really increased, their partisan attitude and complete disinterest in actually discussing the issues has more than made up for any deficiencies in numbers.

My advice? Ignore those posters (and we know who they are) are aren't interested in having a genuine and serious debate/discussion, and engage with those posters who are. The old addage about feeding the trolls is true: if you ignore them, they'll go away.

Of course, I'm a leftists mod, and perhaps some of my colleagues on the opposite side of the spectum may have a different view, LOL.

While trolls are good to ignore and DO exist, it's also wise to ignore some others too I think. You'll get your "rummy dummies" who never make sense and never reply in a way that you can do anything with, there are a few other "types" and "kinds" that are worth ignoring too.

My use of the word troll was innaccurate. It was trying to use an analogy about how if you don't want to engage with someone, then ignore them. I certainly didn't mean to imply that right-wing posters are trolls. Theres's a huge difference between differences of political ideology and trolls.

Tsquare - you think that anyone who doesn't agree with what you say 100% is on the far-left. Perhaps if you were a little less aggressive in your attacking of everyone you'd see that the Forum is far more balanced than you'd otherwise like to think.

You got it in one. There are some posters here who have said that their only aim is to get the leftists posters upset. Most of us ignore those particularly posters, but of course with the number of new posters who join they don't know who these particular baiters are, or what their history is, so of course they engage with them.

Some posters come here bnecause they're interested in having genuine discussions about politics; others come here because they're bored and liked to stir trouble. I'd prefer for the group of the former to ignore the latter; that would certainly go a long way to raising the tone of political discussion.
