Default Cindy Crawford - Jordan

I heard Cindy Sheehan on the radio today. She said she had been planning to go to Crawford on Aug 16 for Bush's vacation but Bush has changed his plans and he is going this weekend until Aug 15. So she changed her plans too, she will go do a Camp Casey on August 5. Before that though, Cindy Sheehan is going to Jordan to meet with Iraqi parliamentarians to draw up a peace plan. Cindy is going along with:
  • Retired Colonel Ann Wright,
  • Iraq war veteran Geoffrey Millard
  • Politician/Writer Tom Hayden,
  • CODEPINK co-founders Medea Benjamin, Jodie Evans, Gael Murphy and Diane Wilson.

They have all been fasting for 28 days and they will break their fast at the peace talks. Cindy plans to come home and go to Crawford with a peace plan to share with Bush if he will meet with her. We all know that won't happen. I don't think our President cares much for peace. Either that or he is plain clueless on how to achieve it.

CODE PINK Troops Home Fast

You can't have peace with people who don't want it. That is the reality of the world we live in.

But good for the people who don't stop trying to get it!

By the way, this is about ending the Iraq war, not Lebanon. Iraqis want the US troops to leave.

I can't imagine there are too many people out there who want to stop trying for peace. The problem is the few who want to prevent it and those people cannot be reasoned with.

I am aware of what you are talking about. The whole Middle East is a clusterfuck, including Iraq, both before and after we went there. Such has been the case since the beginning of time, practically. The Islamo-facists do not want peace; what they want is every one who is not Muslim removed from the Earth. You cannot achieve peace with people who have a mindset such as this.

Those extremists were a much smaller group before we invaded Iraq it seems. I think our presence in Iraq and Israel's balls out battle only breeds more. I don't know the answer to Israel's problem with Hezbollah but I don't think dropping bombs on innocents is the right idea and I don't thing our invasion of Iraq has made anything anywhere any better.

I think the extremists that you mention would be buried in the mainstream billions of Muslims who are just fine with coexisting among others of the earth if we didn't kill tens of thousands of Muslims in Iraq. Our occupation is causing the psychotic leaders to easily recruit young people for the jihad. Before this, Al Qaeda was not well thought of. Now they have a cult following. And where is that fuck Osama anyway?

SITB, place a vote in the poll!

I wish the US troops would leave so you could see the end result. Then the civil war/ethnic cleansing could go into full swing. Thousands of insurgents could also be freed up to join in the war against the great satan, Israel. And of course oil production in Iraq would drop to an all time low ( you really ought to research what companies provide the expertise and equipment that make oil production possible)due to the fact that no one would set foot into country engaged in a raging civil war.
That's a real well thought out and timed plan for the middle east there Samantha! Good show! Did you come up with that all by yourself, or did moveon.org help ya with it?

Exactly what are you threatening us with? Have you seen the land formerly known as Iraq lately? This is 2006 and it's already in chaos. U.S. troops couldn't stop a civil war/ethnic cleansing because it's going on this very day. Maybe what you consider full swing civil war/ethnic cleansing is probably comparable to the genocide on the jews by Nazi Germany, which represents the most extreme form of atrocities. What falls below it doesn't mean that it is tolerable.

To date, Iraq is complete chaos. Maybe they're not sending people to gas chambers, but it is bad enough to cause outrage. You can stand alone on your absurdity that it keeps our gas prices low. I do not need women, children, and elderly to be horrifically murdered by armed forces just so I can see lower prices at the pump.

Are we not seeing your divine well thought out plan being played out right now?! How is that turning out?! And you have the audacity to claim that if we do this the "liberal way" things will get worse?! Iraq doesn't even exist anymore and things have turned into a complete nightmare in Iraq SINCE the American troops have been in there.

Name me three people that believe your bullshit.

Seriously, I agree with Senators Lieberman and Clinton when they say we can't just bring them home with a set date. That isn't the right way to end this. But I do believe that Bush's "Stay the course" is total crap. The course so far has been shit, badly planned, disasterous. So Cindy going to Jordan with code pink to talk peace can shake things up and not let these suits get away with this unjust and stupid war they got us into. Or something.

What diplomatic qualifications does Cindy Sheehan have? This seems more like yet another publicity stunt than anything that will actually yield any tangible results. In addition, she has defined herself as being the consumate anti-Bush, and yet she is going over with the same goal as Bush (who obviously would want peace in Iraq). What sense does this make? Does Cindy Sheehan have some sort of plan to resolve the sectarian violence in Iraq that has eluded every military strategist and pundit over the last several years?

It's just a symbolic thing. She is going with a vet, a writer/politician and a retired colonal.
