The film United 93 was made from all of these recordings and accounts by the Air Traffic Controllers. It shows the confusion and disorganization and failure to alert the military and then the military's failure to scramble to the correct locations.

I suppose that's all Bush's fault, right?

It is sad. But many were confused and scared. My friend is an air traffic controller and he told me what is was like just here in New Mexico. I couldn't imagine what the controllers in New York and other major cities were going through and how they must still feel today.

Yes it shows the confusion, but as for disorganization? A little. But imagine how hard it is to find EVERY plane in the air and make them land.

If you read through and listened to all the audio little of the blame can be placed with the military aircraft. The people at NORAD repeatedly asked for information about the airliner locations, and they simply couldn't give it to them. The first tower was struck during the time they ATC's finally figured out a general location of the plane. Of course there were already 3,000 planes in the air, all showing up on NORADs radar...so it would have been hard to just pick one. They didn't even have the planes tail number, just a flight number which did them no good.

I was also pretty surprised that there were at that time only 14 ARMED aircraft on alert to protect the United States. Of course that was a casualty of a Cold War that ended many years before.
