Default Reuters Admits Altering Beirut Photo

Well, this is certainly in line with what several other threads/posts have suggested about the media war in the middle east. It is unfortunate to know that we can't even rely on the news to bring us the actual stories occuring. The icing on the cake is that this is THE SAME PHOTOGRAPHER that sent in the images from Qana.

Quote:
Reuters withdraws photograph of Beirut after Air Force attack after US blogs, photographers point out 'blatant evidence of manipulation.' Reuters' head of PR says in response, 'Reuters has suspended photographer until investigations are completed into changes made to photograph.' The photographer who sent altered images is same Reuters photographer behind many of images from Qana, which have also been subject of suspicions for being staged

The photograph showed two very heavy plumes of black smoke billowing from buildings in Beirut after an Air Force attack on the Lebanese capital. Reuters has since withdrawn the photograph from its website, along a message admitting that the image was distorted, and an apology to editors.

In the message, Reuters said that "photo editing software was improperly used on this image. A corrected version will immediately follow this advisory. We are sorry for any inconvience."

Here is another Rueters related story.

Reuters employee issues 'Zionist pig' death threat

Quote:
A Reuters employee has been suspended after sending a death threat to an American blogger.

The message, sent from a Reuters internet account, read: "I look forward to the day when you pigs get your throats cut."

It was sent to Charles Johnson, owner of the Little Green Footballs (LGF) weblog, a popular site which often backs Israel and highlights jihadist terrorist activities.

In the threat, the Reuters staff member, who has not been named, left his email address as "zionistpig" at hotmail.com.
Classy bunch they have working there.

And they wonder why they have no credibility left?

I can't believe this actually made it to the public.
Even a photoshop firstimer can see this is copy and pasted.

That smoke is so fake it looks like someone made the photo as a joke...and the typical "evidence" photo you would see in a Michael Moore book.

What a desperate thread topic. The doctored shot doesn't alter in any way the fact that Beirut was burning. Thick smoke, not-so-thick smoke, what a fuss about nothing.

Desperate.

HAHAHAHA!!! - if this was Fox News and they removed some smoke I think every single person on this board would bet their own lives that you sir, would be singing a MUCH different tune.

This is VERY, VERY important!! A major news network that every single other news sources uses as a news sourse just exaggereted a story..that is important, even if you agree with it.

That reply is desperate. If it were the other way around, someone photoshopping to make things look better, the left would be crying conspiracy. But when someone does it to make the situation actually look worse it's OK.

It's not only Rueters, As usual AP is in on the disinformation campaign too. Here's and obviously staged AP photo

Also there was the obviously staged big wheel photos.

Oh and how about the infamous AP photo of the ambulance allegedly hit by an Israeli guided missle.

Is that the kind of damage the vehicle would have sustained in a guided missile attack?

Good shot? Or vandalism? You be the judge.

Like I've said many times before in this forum, you should apply the principles of skepticism and critical thinking when the news media tells you something.

Media news reports that use anonymous sources, take quotes out of context, make unsupportred claims, use prejudicial language etc. should be highly suspect.

The thing is, Reuters and AP are obviously biased and their stoiries are widely syndicated. Many of the articles they try to pass off as news are in fact propaganda and op-ed pieces in disguise.

Then countless other news sources just repeat it,then it gets mindlessly repeated here. Thus ruining their credibility.

But really this edited picture takes the cake. This is poorly done.

Anyone got a link to the story it was supposed to support?
