Once again - the POTUS is not a dictator. The fact that they have a (D) behind their names doesn't mean that they just do whatever Obama says.

Once again, what specific legislative proposal did Obama put forward as President of the United States and LEADER of the Democratic Party do close Gitmo?
"It's a good feeling to shoot a bad guy. Something you democrats would never understand. Americans are homesteaders, we want a safe home, keep the money we make, and shoot bad guys!"

Actually, you know better than most that the POTUS doesn't submit legislation.

But he did issue executive orders to close Gitmo:

If Obama ever had any intention of closing Gitmo and restoring Habeas Corpus - as he so passionately proclaimed on the campaign trail - it would have been done by now.

Those who bought his well-delivered speeches on the topic were suckered. Bamboozled. Done been had.

US Attorney General Eric Holder said that this administration is trying to close Guantanamo finally down by 2012 before presidential elections. Interesting I thought they had given up on it already but that's what he said in front of the Civil Rights Committee of the European Parliament.

Not perfectly on topic but a very interesting quote:

"Let me first comment, that the interaction I am having with this distinguished group is not that dissimilar to that which I experience with Congress in the United States except that the questions you ask are more pointed, and I must say, more policy driven which is a welcome change for me."
    Attorney General Eric Holder
