Thread: Gitmo still open.

Gitmo is still open on the first anniversary of the president declaring it must be closed. Not necessarily a promise broken but certainly a promise deferred.

Everyone saying the we should close Gitmo has no idea what "Gitmo" is.

They think it's a prison when, in fact, the prison comprises only a small fraction of the base there...

Gitmo's not closed yet because Obama still has to pay this woman's mortgage:

I've never really understood the point or reason behind closing it in the first place.

I have never understood the point either. Obama just talks out of his ass.

No, I believe it's a promise broken. If memory serves, he promised to close the detention center within one year.

I don't believe anyone is talking about closing the actual base. When they talk about closing Gitmo, I believe they are talking about closing just the detention center.

I wish I could break promises and people could still worship me.

I was mentioning the detention facilities there. I understand it's a base otherwise.

I don't think people know it's a base either. I tried explaining that to someone on a pro-wrestling message board (of all places) a few weeks ago. Right over their head.
