Default With the threat of a government shutdown....

Obama will be out of town on two political trips today. One to speak with the Reverand....

West Wing briefing: Obama headed out of D.C. as shutdown looms - 44 - The Washington Post

A fiery President Obama insisted Tuesday that if he and congressional leaders couldn’t reach a deal to avert a government shutdown, “I want a meeting again tomorrow here at the White House.”

“I will invite the same folks that we invited today,” he added. “And if that doesn’t work, we’ll invite them again the day after that. And I will have my entire team available to work through the details of getting a deal done.”

Obama’s team may not include the president himself. Despite the impasse in Washington over federal spending, the president as of early Wednesday was scheduled to give two speeches outside of Washington: one on energy in the Philadelphia suburbs, then another Wednesday evening to a group of black political activists in New York.
"The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." - Sen. Barack Obama December 20, 2007.

This is his style. He lets others do the heavy lifting and sees himself as merely a facilitator. I worked with a manager like that. They confuse making a room available so delving into the details together can be done with the qualities of being a leader.

What a dipshit.

When the shit was hitting the fan in Libya, he skipped town. Now the shit's hitting the fan in his own backyard, and he's gonna' skip town.

Anybody who believes Obama is acting "presidential" is a dipshit...

No, probably not. It's a very high availability and demanding job. But he wanted it, and he got it.

How does that old saying go? "Be careful of what you ask for, you may get it."

Looks like he got it.

I fail to understand why the administration and some members of congress remain in this budget cutting denial mode.

How can they possibly believe that there is no problem in continuing to borrow 40 cents of every dollar being spent?

Rather than effectively dealing with this excess spending, and leading the effort to address it, they deny that there's a problem and fight every cut along the way.

Most recently reported on was Pelosi claimed that a cut was going to starve 1.4M seniors of their meals on wheels without government support.

When her office was asked to substantiate this claim of hers, they couldn't. Not that they refused to. They just couldn't.

Is the wicked witch from the West making up statistics again?

Bahh! Shutdown the government for 6 months. It'd be a cut worth making, keeping the government from making things worse.

(Thanks. I needed to get that off of my chest)
Given the changed post-election legislative landscape I can only hope that the administration and the congressional houses can find a way to work together, finding the right compromises to do the people's business, while keeping the people's best interests at heart, and may civility return to the public discourse. We, as a nation, certainly need all of these things.

Yeah, well that's a lost cause now for sure.

Pres. Obama should never leave the White House, for anything. He should be chained to the oval office desk. He belongs in chains at any rate. It would fit the color of his skin.

He took a leak yesterday and I hear Rush will critique that tomorrow, and be especially nasty if he doesn't have an Oxycotin.

So many people are infactuated with Obama. From Chris Matthews who felt chills while listening to an Obama speech a few years ago to the professional Obama haters who would have panic attacks if there was no action of Obama's to critisize and get worked up about. I reckon Obama stays in the consciousness of both lovers and haters. Their loved ones are in second place in the attention department. Yes, he sure is a powerful guy, to draw so much varied attention. Some might say famous, and unforgetable, like Pres. Reagen.

For me, I got no time to hate him, as I am worried about this Nation's future. If he golfs while some Nation is being bombed, so what?

Last time I looked it was not his direct responsiblity to pass any budget anyways. He has recommendations, but the Congress is not bound in any way by it. Should he just treat all like spoiled little brats and spank their collective ass?

When Congress cannot act like sensible adults, it is not the Presidents job to do theirs. And if he did, he would get loads of ire and critisism from the Right. For trying to grab onto more power. The Right will never be pleased with Obama, so anything that they say, needs to be taken with that in mind. If we understand these Right Side Boys cannot be objective, at least we can laugh at the absurdity and foolishness. They can be very entertaining, if you like Soaps, or better, Jerry Springer. They are indeed valuable for us more objective folks. We like a good joke.

The President is supposed to be the leader of the Nation. Obama appears to think that he is the figurehead of the Nation. Yes it is Congress's job to submit bills for discussion then either pass or reject them. However, there has to be some leadership from the White House. Obama appears to have given the responsibility for a budget to Senator Reed (Cowboy Poetry advocate) and the rest of the Senate Democrats. If something goes wrong Obama can't be blamed for it, or at least that appears to be his thinking. It is time to vote the President and the majority of the Democrats out of office. I'm tired of hearing democrats yapping like a bunch of "kicking dogs".

Of course there are times when it's completely appropriate for the President to leave DC. This, however, would not be one of those times.

Sadly, however, Obama is simply too fucking stupid to realize that, and he's surrounded himself with advisors who are too fucking stupid to advise him to stay in DC.

Now is not the time to leave, now is the time to lead.

And it's a pitiful shame that he's proving to be completely incapable of doing that...
