If this is true, as I have not confirmed it, PBS has deliberately altered the facts of a speech to assist Obama in a cover-up.

PBS alters transcript to hide Obama gaffe
Timothy Birdnow
"At one point Mr. Obama made a major gaffe; he identified Abraham Lincoln as the founder of the Republican Party.
Lincoln did not join the Republicans until 1856, over two years after the party was founded. The first Republican convention was held in Ripon, Wisconsin in 1854.
Such a gaffe would have brought huge amounts of ridicule and derision on George W. Bush, but in the case of Obama the media yawned.
Actually, they did more than yawn; government-funded PBS has altered the transcript of the President's speech, removing the offending comment.
The New York Times transcript has the following quote:
"We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union. Founder of the Republican Party. But in the middle of a civil war, he was also a leader who looked to the future -- a Republican President who mobilized government to build the Transcontinental Railroad -- (applause) -- launch the National Academy of Sciences, set up the first land grant colleges. (Applause.) And leaders of both parties have followed the example he set."
But how does it appear in the PBS transcript?
"We all remember Abraham Lincoln as the leader who saved our Union. But in the middle of a Civil War, he was also a leader who looked to the future - a Republican president who mobilized government to build the transcontinental railroad; launch the National Academy of Sciences; and set up the first land grant colleges. And leaders of both parties have followed the example he set."
So PBS has purposely altered a transcript containing a major gaffe by the President."

SURPRISE!
Of course it isn't a surprise... and over the next year this kind of crap is only going to get worse as all the MSM works overtime to get Obama re-elected.

According to PBS they just posted the transcript they were given...the one that was given to everyone and that Obama just kind of went off script.
Yes, he was wrong about Lincoln.
No, this isn't something to beat him over the head with.
The lefties love to bludgeon Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann over stuff like this. It's their gig and every time they do it they are fully deserving of our scorn so let's not stoop to that level.

I don't know...and I have to ask myself....who cares?
The media as a whole simply sucks. I'm pretty sure that they always have as I can well remember back when I first was learning to read more than 40 years ago my father used to harp on the insanity that was being written. The difference today is that there is more of it. LOTS more of it.
PBS has a liberal bias. We all know it. They're not as flagrant about it as MSNBC but they are definitely biased. That being said it would be pretty hard to pin them down on doing something of significance that was intentionally deceitful.
Gaffe's like this Lincoln thing are a dime a dozen and it would make no sense whatsoever for a major news agency to risk their credibility by manipulating their reporting to cover such a thing up. It would be like making up a story about an alien invasion to cover up from having to tell your wife you drank out of the OJ carton.

Who'd have thought? Obama makes a Bachmann-esque gaff and the press not only ignore it but attempts to cover it up.
