Remarks by the President on the American Jobs Act in Columbus, OH | The White House
Some highlights:
And of course the usual message of crticizing Repulbicans and how he isnt playing political games but everyone else is.Pass this bill
if you pass this bill
we got to pass this bill (grammar)
pass this bill right away
Tell them to pass this bill
Let’s pass this bill right away
if we get Congress to pass this bill
if Congress refuses to pass this bill
if you want to create jobs right now –- pass this bill
If you want construction workers renovating schools like this one -– pass this bill.
If you want to put teachers back in the classroom –- pass this bill.
what to do you do? Pass this bill.
If you want to help our veterans share in the opportunity that they defend -–pass this bill.Again, how is this strategy of trying to antagonize people into doing something he wants working out for him?Already, yesterday there were some Republicans quoted in Washington saying that even if they agree with the proposals in the American Jobs Act, they shouldn’t pass it because it would give me a win.
That’s the kind of games-playing we’ve gotten used to in Washington. Think about that. They supported this stuff in the past, but they’re thinking maybe they don’t do it this time because Obama is promoting it. Give me a win? This isn’t about giving me a win. This isn’t about giving Democrats or Republicans a win. It’s about giving the American people a win. (Applause.) It’s about giving Ohio a win. (Applause.) It’s about your jobs and your lives and your futures, and giving our kids a win. (Applause.)
Speech #150 is today in NC. I wonder how much jet fuel this is costing? How much carbon he is putting out?

We have to pass this stimulus bill right now, yes right now, which will keep our unemployment under 8%. Sound familiar?

Let's see, the president makes a speech on economic issues yesterday, that means the DOW could drop 200 points or more today.

Speaker Boehner: Permanent Tax Hikes to Pay for Temporary Spending Not a Solution for Private-Sector Job Growth | Speaker of the House John Boehner | speaker.gov
I have to agree with Boehner. So the lines are already draw, as predicted. So again, how is this not politics as usual?
This does put the onus on the speaker and party to come up with a bi-partisan jobs bill. My hope would be that it would be one that would cut government spending in places to fund the cost of their jobs bill, or even better yet, contain repeals of some of the ridiculous, poorly designed regulations coming out of this administration. That'd send a message.
Given the changed post-election legislative landscape I can only hope that the administration and the congressional houses can find a way to work together, finding the right compromises to do the people's business, while keeping the people's best interests at heart, and may civility return to the public discourse. We, as a nation, certainly need all of these things.
Yeah, well that's a lost cause now for sure.
You would think Obama would have learned not to propose a tax hike. As long as Republicans control the house, it aint gonna happen.

Those right wingers can be pesky. I know I'm not upset when the market climbs. I wouldn't be surprised if the DOW climbed on news of the special election being lost by the Democrats in NY in light of it being a referendum on Obama policies, but I can't say right wingers would agree.
