    Default democrats desert ship, aye

    ahoy mateys,

in all me life, i've never seen a party run with such fervor from thar own president...even the manner that the GOP in congress distanced themselves from President W. Bush seems to pale in comparison to the democrats leavin' thar posts in droves.

even though i think that alotta be this 'o his own doing and he hath reaped what he's sown, i feel kinda bad fer Mr. Obama.

he seems wretched now, and entirely forlorn.

he stood ondeck, raised his banners, and yelled "CHARRRRRRRGE!"...only to glance o'er his shoulder and find himself very alone.

President Obama anticipated Republican resistance to his jobs program, but he is now meeting increasing pushback from his own party. Many Congressional Democrats, smarting from the fallout over the 2009 stimulus bill, say there is little chance they will be able to support the bill as a single entity, citing an array of elements they cannot abide.

Democrats like Senator Mary L. Landrieu of Louisiana, who does not want the oil industry singled out for tax changes, object to parts of the bill. The White House has opposed breaking it up.

“I think the American people are very skeptical of big pieces of legislation,” Senator Bob Casey, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, said in an interview Wednesday, joining a growing chorus of Democrats who prefer an à la carte version of the bill despite White House resistance to that approach. “For that reason alone I think we should break it up.”

ahhh...Mr. Obama be all alone on the bridge, thunderin' forth his edicts, but even his own crew aren't listenin' no more.

    *muses*

    aye.

There are maybe dozen things I could say about now. Most would center around the gross incompetency this president and his team have shown (see the thread on how they couldn't even get the bill you are talking about filed!).

But really all I want to do is laugh...

The great thing about this is that it does not matter what Obama wants as the president does not write legislation but only suggests it. Congress is free to pass parts of Obama's bill, as they see fit, and there is nothing stopping them.

Arr, me matey. Thar aught tell you somethin' 'bout how well he's done. Not even his own crew be standin' behind him.

Hard to captin a Washington ship without cred with the crew, and using Chicago style politics ain't gonna do it, or so it would seem.
Given the changed post-election legislative landscape I can only hope that the administration and the congressional houses can find a way to work together, finding the right compromises to do the people's business, while keeping the people's best interests at heart, and may civility return to the public discourse. We, as a nation, certainly need all of these things.

Yeah, well that's a lost cause now for sure.

    ahoy Eohrnberger,

aye, indeed. i'd felt the President was done fer a while now...but with his own crew in a mutinous mood, he be enterin' the lame duck stage 'o his brief reign. 'tis easy fer me to believe that the GOP shall win both houses 'o congress, and the skipper's chair...which'll also end up further cementin' thar grip on the SCOTUS, should another justice lift anchor and head to shore.

from me own point 'o view, the Democrats deserve every bit 'o the shellackin' they be about to receive. i feel absolutely disinterested in goin' to the polls to support Mr. Obama and be hopin' a GOP nominee shall emerge that i can raise me sails behind.

should Mitt Romney gain the White House, ye shall essentially have the same thing ye had in Mr. Obama, 'cept he'll have the support 'o the GOP when he suggests legistlation.
should Mr. Perry gain it, then we'll have a different America in the comin' decade...a bible thumpin' isolationist that'll probably accelerate the end 'o America's healthcare related safety nets fer the seniors 'o tomorrow (which is fine, but i really hope he doesn't expect this Pirate to pay fer them programs fer the next two decades), who takes a kinda dim view 'o both education and environmental regulation...who has a surprisingly relaxed view 'o our illegal immigration situation. it'll be interestin' to see how things run thar course.

This is my favorite quote from the article:

So this is the new Presidential "progressive" way of talking to the masses--

As he barnstormed again on Wednesday, Mr. Obama told voters in North Carolina, “If you love me, you’ve got to help me pass this bill,” but even some members of Congress from that state may prefer to stay just friends.
I love my family--it doesn't necessary mean I agree and or would support everything they do or say.--LOL

Obama never was a Democrat or he was so used to being a kiss ass ... he cooperated himself into being a Pub. Obamacare his claim to success is overpriced. He had a chance for a stimulus and cooperated away any chance of stimulating the economy. To many fools on the Democratic side have supported this chameleon and they still do. Damn fools don't run away fast enough ... Kucinich for President hooorah.

Look--Obama had a full house for two solid years--to implement anything he wanted to do--without opposition. Republicans were such a MINORITY in both the house and senate--they couldn't even manage up a filibuster on a bill.

So cry me a river--this is the guy you elected--who had free reign over this county for more than enough time to destroy this country as he wished. Obamacare is testimony to that.

You voted for it--You got it.

    Attachment 11690

Now he can add Democrats to his blame list.

    ahoy Michael_H,

as both Disillusioned_1 and RudeBoy pointed out two years ago, and i've come to agree with'm both, Mr. Obama has been the furthest thing from a Liberal, and governed more as a moderate conservative.

agreed with yer assessment entirely, me friend.
