WASHINGTON – President Obama unveiled a new deficit reduction plan Monday anchored by $1.5 trillion in new taxes, a package that Republicans will surely deem dead-on-arrival after ruling out tax hikes as a way to rein in the debt.

The plan Obama announced includes more than $2 trillion in entitlement cuts and tax increases over the next decade. While House Speaker John Boehner and other top Republicans have urged a newly formed bipartisan committee seeking long-term savings to avoid tax hikes, senior administration officials previewing the president's plan said that approach is untenable.

Guess he gave up on the America Jobs Act already, on to plan J.

-entitlement cuts (good but fake)
-tax increases on the rich (bad and impossible)
-veto on medicare cuts unless we tax the rich
-savings from ending wars (fake)
-all over ten years which is meaningless

Yeah, take more money from employers, thats sure to improve the jobs market.

Yeah, but theyre still rich, so this will convince them to hire more people.

Ive always wondered why the media doesnt go ask rich people how they feel about being vilified and targeted? We know how Buffet and a few of his friends feel, but what about the 100,000 others?

They have lobbied underpants for 17 years. No prison sentence ... mostly cheers from a few.

It's selective "taxing the rich”. If you don’t like the legislation, then just make a campaign donation, you’ll be exempt and everybody is happy (except those pesky voters…can’t we register more dead ones?)

Well, I don´t see that it is going to be happen that Obama reaches his new target to decrease the US-debts by 3,6 trillion $ until 2021.
His plan, like Clinton´s one (which was to make the US free from debts until 2013), depends on the politics of following Presidents.

And the Republicans won´t agree to the new taxation of the rich, so we will see what is left when the Congress has addressed this issue.

And the number still isnt large enough. Obama is proposing we spend 42trillion over the next 10 years, which includes 20 trillion of borrowing. Reducing that by 3 trillion barely dents it.

So he doesn´t want to decrease the debts from 15 to 12,5 trillion until 2021?

And it looks like a war with the Republicans. Obama will use his Veto on every austerity measure the Republicans make, if they don´t cooperate.
